Re: has anyone seen these subwoofer wiring diagrams?
my amp does support a 2ohm load. i have the MRD-M605 from Alpine driving a JL w6

Re: has anyone seen these subwoofer wiring diagrams?
Almost ANY amp will run 2ohm, its just the 1ohm load you should look out for
Re: has anyone seen these subwoofer wiring diagrams?
that is wrong ive had several amps that will run in 2ohm but there unstable u have to make sure u can run a stable 2 ohm load
Re: has anyone seen these subwoofer wiring diagrams?
You must have had some real shitty amps, pretty much anything for car audio supports 2ohm. Home theater stuff is different, its like 4/6/8... In all the amps ive used in my time ive never had one not run 2ohm. THey dont overheat or anything, just keep on playing.

That's just a poor statement to make. I'd say as far as home audio goes, almost everything runs at 4 or 8ohms, for car audio 2 is more common but not as common as 4 and 8ohm limits. It's just not responsible to make a statement like that. You should ALWAYS check to make sure your amp can handle the load you are about to hook up to it.

It's not about the quality of the amp, but the design of it. Look up different amp types. There are different car and home amps for different applications. I'd say some of the better amps sound way better at 4 and 8 ohms then the do at 2.

Correct. Just because it supports a 2 ohm load doesn't mean it's going to sound good at that small of a load.
And a 1 ohm load?! Unless you are in a competition you probably won't come across that kind of stuff.
Re: has anyone seen these subwoofer wiring diagrams?
Well yeah im not saying you should check your amp, but the chances of it actually running at 2ohm are pretty high if its made for car audio. And yes, if you can get the same amount of power out of it at 8ohm than you can at 2ohm, 8 will definately sound better. Marginaly though, its just not having to run the amp as hard thats all.
But for sure check your amp before you hook it up. Id say theres probably a 90-95% chance itll run 2ohm stable.
