Frantik's Green Monster - Past, Present & Future
Prologue
In 1988 my aunt bought a Chateau Red Metallic (aka burgundy) LX sedan. For whatever reason it sat most of its life in her garage until 2001 when she gave it to my mom for my sister to use for high school.
After my sister went to college, I ended up with the car in the summer of 2005. I hadn't even driven a car regularly since 1998 when I went to college, so it was nice having some wheels. The thing was practically mint looking with 118,000 miles, and I grew to love it and enjoyed driving it. It was pretty zippy (that LX tranny is super torquey w00t) and fun to drive, though it didn't have a lot of power especially on hills.
I didn't really have much direction as far as what I wanted to do with it and was pretty n00bish car-wise, but I did end up buying some ventshades (first AEM, then OEM which i never installed cause the aem ones were stuck on lol) and an EQ which i modded to accept external inputs for my CD player and later my ipod. I also bought a pair of brand new front Koni Reds since they were so rare. I didn't even know when I would be able to buy the rest of the suspension to lower the car but I bought em anyways. A couple times when I really needed money I put em up for sale on here and ebay but I always changed my mind after I wasn't broke any more lol.
Unfortunately the car did have a problem with overheating that I neglected to fix.. which was eventually my downfall as it warped the head gasget and I ended up selling the car for $200 :crying:
Here's a few pix:

Re: Frantik's Green Monster - Past, Present & Future
The Green Monster
So in the summer of 2006 I needed a new car. I looked around at different ones and even test drove an 80s BMW 3 series.. but I decided I just wanted another 3gee. Practically hours after I posted my want thread, a car meeting almost all of my specifications showed up on Craigslist.. and the next day I bought a Montery Green LXi sedan with black and tan interior for $1600. It was too much money for the car but I loved the color of both the interior and exterior and I needed a car quickly. I drove it home that day and left my LX parked in front of the guy's house to pick up later :D
Pics of the day I got it. 198xxx miles bone stock

Almost immediately i had it checked out by a mechanic, and i ended up having them do a timing belt as well as a bunch of seals. They gave it a clean bill of health after that, so I decide it was ok for me to start spending money on hehe. Within weeks I had it tinted.. I seriously couldn't stand driving especially at night without the tint. Plus the car gets rediculously hot without the tint, even on cool days. It's not even a looks thing, though it does improve the look a ton.. but just as far as driving comfort is concerned it makes all the difference.

Soon after I finally installed my OEM vent shades, and I also got some JDM corners off ebay
http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/4...sshadesyz2.jpg
I also picked up some new shoes for $60 of craigslist.. they're from a Geo Storm, and as much as it pains me to say I have parts froma Geo on my car, the wheels look good and I like them a lot. They really emphasize the lines of the car imo and are bold yet not too flashy.

I also kept my EQ from my old 3gee and put that in the LXi, along with an armrest I got from Monkey. http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/7048/p7290009to4.jpg

Re: Frantik's Green Monster - Past, Present & Future
The Green Monster goes on her first outing! Pico, Strugglebucket and myself drove up, and Geddy and Mia also came along.
http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/6088/p1010013wy5.jpg
First engine bay shot too.. I should have gotten one when I bought the car cause it was a huge mess of oil and dirt :(
http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/8869/p1010023mu2.jpg
Finally, some kind of performance mod lol. I bought a civic short ram intake off geddy at the meet so I installed that bad boy! It was ok and I could go a lot faster on the freeway.. but i really missed the low end torque and the torque in general. Plus it was sooo loud i felt like the biggest ricer ever.
http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/6807/shortramow0.jpg
So I was getting pretty fed up with my rinkydink 1.8 megapixel camera, and finally decided to get a new one. I decided on an olympus c400, mostly because i liked maxoutracer's photoshoots and he used that cam, plus it was older (and thus cheaper).. i got one for $200 with some extra goodies like filters and lenses. So with my new cam, I needed to do a full on photoshoot! I went out to the foot hills of east San Jose and found a nice backroad to take some pix as the sun was going down

Re: Frantik's Green Monster - Past, Present & Future
2nd Outing for the Green Monster! This time in San Francisco for a big ass meet

Around this time I scored a set of Eibach Sportline drop springs off ebay for $75 shipped. It was a sweet deal and I knew it was time to finally drop the car so I also ordered some tokico blues to match the Koni reds which had been sitting in my closet for over a year. I also managed to get ahold of some of Justin's bars when he made a batch recently, so I was ready for some major suspension upgrades. I drove up to the now infamous Pico shop where Pico & his buddy George, along with Geddy and Messy all installed my new suspenion goodies.

Had to do another photoshoot with the new drop of course

Re: Frantik's Green Monster - Past, Present & Future
Almost immediately after installing my short ram, i realized I wasn't happy with it so I ordered a 2.5 inch mandel bent tube from JC whitney to make a CAI. It took me a while to decide how to best make the cuts in the ubend, but once it was done and installed (at the picoshop again w00t with Pico and Messy's help) it looked great and the performance difference was huge.. torque was increased all around which improved accelleration and handling over the short ram.
http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/8...0015xo8iw0.jpg
Over the winter I didn't do much to the car.. but recently I've been doing more things. I installed some clearlights which I had made and were just sitting around the house for a while.. I liked them, but i wanted something a lil darker to match the JDM corners. I also finally got an OEM moonroof visor.. it's great.. it makes the car look more sporty for some reason and it blocks the wind and sun when the roof is open.
http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/1...0005de4rg2.jpg
I also found an 89 RS integra lip recently so again with Pico's help I installed that badboy. At the same time I installed something which may be a 3geez first.. smoked reflector bumper lights. they look pretty mean :D
http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/5...0107tb6se3.jpg
http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/8...0135zy2aa7.jpg
I installed those the day before the recent Cambria meet
http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/2...0105ck5kh5.jpg
http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/6...0145fh4dd4.jpg
And thats pretty much how she sits today, with almost 203,xxx miles. I've got various plans for the future, though a lot of it depends on funds which have been short as of late. I do have an JDM maplight which needs to be installed, and I also scored an OEM fog light switch which makes me want to install some foglights too.
I'll be using this thread as my update thread so stay tuned

i get that a lot  lol actually it's cool cause the color really seems to depend on the lighting :) on clear sunny days it looks really blue and on cloudy days it looks much more green. the color is a blue-green kinda like the ocean. I like it a lot.
Here's a comparison with ol blue

Frantik
Great looking car! Great thread. More of us should do this.
Carotman, naw Frantik just wishes that it was that cool Laurel Blue color.:) Actually there are a few of the factory colors that just seem to suit these 3rd generation Accords best. The Monterey Green and the Laurel Blue are two of the best examples of this. And it would be hard to find a better example of this than Frantik's Monterey Green Sedan.

4th gens didn't come in Monterey green (BG-20-M), though they did come in similar colors. SEis came in BG-26 which was used on 4th gens. I like the green 4th gens a lot

Re: Frantik's Green Monster - Past, Present & Future

Re: Frantik's Green Monster - Past, Present & Future
thanks for the nice comments everybody
thinking bout installing my maplight this weekend :D
-
Re: Frantik's Green Monster - Past, Present & Future
well im kinda pissed.. i went out to install my maplight and i noticed that the space in between the sun visors is too small for the maplight.. so either i gotta find different visors or not use the maplight. most likely it means not using the maplight :crying: if anybody is interested you're welcome to buy it
