Hash_man_se_i's 1988 EX-i sedan build
Well, I had been on the search for a new 3g for a while now, having my wrecked se-i sitting in the garage sucks, and I needed to find a replacement, but wanted something with a good body.
After getting screwed over on one deal, flying out to Vancouver, and the idiot who I was supposed to buy the car from neglected to call me the night before when the alternator siezed up and the car had a couple other issues. I walked away from that deal pissed off, and flew back home.
Finally while browsing craigslist randomly one day, I found what looked like a really good car. 1988 ex-i, white, 5spd, 250,000kms, oem window visors, and the people had owned it since 1989.... Did a carproof report, never been in an accident, got more pictures... talked to the owners and decided to go for it. So saturday the 8th... I hopped on a plane to Abbotsford, got in a cab to Chilliwack (cab driver smelled really bad too! :thumbdn:) ... And after having a good look at the car, taking it for a spin... I decided to go for it. So, here she is:
Stopped off after about 3 hours or so of driving for some gas and food.

Well, the drive was quite interesting.... Was raining pretty good when I picked up the car, then got nice and sunny for pics... Then I hit a bit more rain, followed by hail, then more rain, a little bit of snow... followed by nice clear weather when I hit Alberta. As you can see here, driving through the mountains, they got a lot of snow this winter...

And finally home safe and sound... Chillin in my mess of a garage.

Clean!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: My new '88 ex-i ... Build thread;
Looks very clean indeed.The best part is that you bought the car and drove it back without any problems.
Re: My new '88 ex-i ... Build thread;
Congrats on the new car!
Looks Great! :thumbup:
Re: My new '88 ex-i ... Build thread;
Thanks guys... body is super clean... couple little dents that can be fixed by paintless dent repair, and 2 specs of rust one on front left fender, other under right door handle.
BTW, drive was about 950kms.... did it in about 8.5 hours only stopping twice to top up gas, and make a pit stop.

^^thanks pico... never was a huge fan of white before... but when the paint is good, our cars just look nice in it.

Thanks, it has been hard staying to commited to this project for a while especially without a clean car to start with... feels great now.

hahah no... don't have to get on a plane, but generally during winter I would rather fly over the mountains then drive through them. Besides, it saves a lot of time, and short flights like that don't cost much.

Thanks cheese, neither can I. Car is parked for a bit, and hopefully I can get my school stuff under control this week and get to work this weekend, might snow anyways so it'll be a perfect excuse to stay inside and do work. :wave:
Re: My new '88 ex-i ... Build thread;

Re: My new '88 ex-i ... Build thread;
That 3g looks great man. I'd just can the pinstripe. It's good you didn't settle for something crappier that was closer to you. Hope the part swap/build goes well. Keep us posted and take tons of pics. I still lurk around here and there. :cheers:
Re: My new '88 ex-i ... Build thread;
Thanks Steve, glad to see you still lurk around here once in a while even though your 3g is gone.
New pics should be coming soon, going to swap my exhaust on, my lights and some other things this weekend and hopefully get the car inspected and on the road soon.
Re: My new '88 ex-i ... Build thread;
sweet find! The mountains are badass to look at, as there are none In Midwest US,lol. But yeah, great pics too.
x2 on 86ing the pinstripe.
Re: My new '88 ex-i ... Build thread;
Well I have been slowly doing little things to the accord so far, such as new brakes, cleaning and detailing and started working on the interior swap. Don't have many pictures of that yet, but today these arrived at my front door :D :D :D ... Picked them up off a guy on G2IC and I'm super excited, one of the few sets of wheels I have always wanted.
Here they are at my door... fedex decided to just leave them sitting there didn't even knock or ring the door bell.
http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/23/img0621vs3.jpg
Took them inside to open up.
http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/3439/img0625mv9.jpg
Oh my... volk wheel covers too...
http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/6381/img0627ti5.jpg
Wait a second.... Those aren't Volks.....
http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/1342/img0629et4.jpg
Hehehe... My new wheels... 15" x 7" SSR 265's. 4x100 and +27mm offset.
http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/3628/img0635nu3.jpg
Only thing I need now are some tires and my new suspension which I should be getting soon.
Re: My new '88 ex-i ... Build thread;
NICE!!! that offset and those wheels will look very oldschool on the Accord. I actually just picked up a set of SSRs too. should be here next week.
