Chinese valve stems recalled
Nothing like the idea of a catastrophic failure of your valve stem at 90mph to get you thinking. Consumer reports, in the latest issue, talks about a recall of Chinese-made valve stems distributed in late 2006. There may be 30 million of them out there.

Re: Chinese valve stems recalled
Here in CT, we have a chain of tire stores called Town Fair. They've been around for a long time, and have done a decent job for me over the years. Free rotation, flat repair, etc.
I called their buyer and he knew all about the problem. He said that their supplier said they didn't get any of the questionable stems, but that their policy, just announced, is that any customer having bought a tire during the time period in question (basically the last half of '06) can come in for a free new set of stems, balance, mounting...everything free. This, just in case a box got mixed in. I call that good customer relations.
Re: Chinese valve stems recalled
Wow, that is good customer service indeed. I wonder how many other tire companies will care about their customers enough to do that.
Re: Chinese valve stems recalled
thiis is ridiculous, when are people going to learn not to trust the quality of Chinese rubber, plastics, metals, and consumables?
What would high speeds have to do with the stem failing btw.
