Re: Best way to restore bumper & side moulding color

Junkyard Bumper was silver color over primer.......at least it looked like it.
I had a lot of scratches on the junkyard front bumper. Sanded them down as good as I could.
Used aircraft stripper to get most of the paint off. Not all of the paint came off or could be sanded off.

I already painted it with Rustoleum satin black plastic paint. Not exactly satin looking.
It was closer to being shiny compared to the back bumper which has a flat black look.

I thought about using aircraft stripper to get the shiny "satin" look off of it.
Thought about using a flat black plastidip next, since the paint can cap looks closer to the flat black
    rear bumper.

It will take me a week to get the current paint cleaned off. Any better suggestions?

All depends on the condition of the plastic.

One trick is to use a heat gun and essentially re-melt / flow the plastic. This does not always work.

the other is to mask off pained areas and use a product like SEM Scuff and clean, this will help prep the surface, just use plenty of water to rise the stuff away. When ready to spray it may be wise to use an adhesion promoter and/or primer. I would also suggest using stuff like SEM Trim black. The rattle cans are expensive compared to rustoleum, however i so far never have an issue.

See my hatchback thread, i only used SEM trim black on all the parts
