Re: PROJECT: A20A to B18A Tranny Adapter Plate

The adapter doesn't have to be made out of super strong material. It just has to hold the two components together. The bolts, shaft, engine, and mounts will be taking the weight. So go for aluminum if you want and can find it cheaply.

Personally I'd have the bell housing "bracket" sliced off and have an A20 template welded in place along with a mount relocator so it's plug and play without too much worry.

You're going to have to find a new passenger side axle that will fit. I'm not sure how much of a difference it'd make (If the B-series is longer or shorter, size of the axle, etc.)

The linkage should be a noduh. Follow the B-series swap guide for that (I think it's just welding on an integra endlink)

As far as gearing goes, pick a setup with a decent FD and top speed.

If you're going as far as this to make a nice setup, make sure it's made to last. Get nice synchros that will take abuse.

yes, i will be using aluminum forthe plate. i am going to build the plate incase i blow up this tranny, it will make it esier to swap. no need to modify the end of the shiftlinkage, ill just use the whole integra shidter assembly. i already have an aftermarket b series tranny mount brack that ill weld insode the engine bay once i see exactly where the tranny will end up. as far as a xles go, one of our accounts for the towing company used to one silent drive, a axle company in boston. he now has a junkyard, ill ask him about shorthnig it or usring a different longer axle and shorthing that

Re: PROJECT: A20A to B18A Tranny Adapter Plate

i took the auto tranny off earlier and the lil space that was in there was way too thin. it would tale 8 0f them to equal 1/2" but on the bright side i can use it as a trmplate for when i get my sheet of aluminum so that i can drill ome out. jason budd said that the longer bolts he used for thr flywheel are acutally arp bolts. the needed a lil shaced off the end, no biggie. just trying to see if i can get the part number

Re: PROJECT: A20A to B18A Tranny Adapter Plate

So I am looking at h2b kits. Does anyone know if this h22 crank bolt pattern is the same as the a20. I am looking at the h2b fly wheel as possible answer to the spacer delema. If so all that is left is the transmission spacer. Now there could be a possible answer to that as well with the h2b transmission spacer.

I think I just figured out the b series clutch swap for the a20 trans. Think I'll keep that under wraps for now.

They make shims for the flywheel as well I think there on Rockauto. That should get you dialed in.
