very nice work! one thing you might consider for a slightly higher cost is using the fabric loom instead of split loom, and just heat shrinking the ends. it looks SOOO nice but would definitely cost a bit more in materials (maybe?). the harnesses already look great, so this is just a small tweak. If were paying for something like this I wouldn't mind the extra bit to have it look flawless.

anyway, great job on the harness, it looks very cool - and the price is very reasonable! I hope you can sell a ton of them I wish this were around when I was getting my stuff together.

Re: Complete OBD 1 Conversion Harnesses

I see that you've added a wire for the cooling fan and that you say this is for people who will be using integra civic etc. radiators where there is no option to mount our coolant switch.
As far as I know you will still need the coolant fan switch, which on the obd1 cars is located somewhere on the engine but on our cars it is unfortunately mounted in the radiator.
So this wire is not necessarily needed because you will need to somehow retain the stock fan switch anyway. And even if you decide to mount an obd1 fan switch in your block you should still be able do without this wire.
I'm not aware when the obd1 ecu actually use it's function to turn on the fan or why? Because the fan is still connected to a regular coolant switch like the one in our 3rd gens.

^ I always wondered about that too, seems those things are almost always mechanical. Maybe its just a check wire for the ECU to throw a code if the fan isn't working?

hey man good work, easier the better. but on my swap ill be using the old wires from the EGR and IACV that run to my intake manifold for the dizzys ignitor and tach signal wire instead of running extra wires

Maybe. There is no error code in the ecu that indicates a faulty coolant switch though.

Careful, the crank angle wires need to be shielded.

I can modify stock harnesses as well, but that requires receiving/purchasing an engine harness, tearing it apart and inspecting, running the extra wires/extending existing ones. The ECU Jumper will need a few wires swapped to make use of them, but that's no problem for me.

Yes, it will be less expensive if I am sent a harness to modify, but you will need to get another unmodified harness to return to OBD 0. I won't go below $200 for the modified engine harness and matching ECU jumper. It will be an additional $50 if your stock harness is not provided.

The fan wire is switched by the ECU which receives the signal from the TW sensor. Some OBD 1 cars do not have this feature, they use a fan switch mounted on the thermostat housing. The ecu you're using needs to be from a engine that supports this.

I'm not aware of any obd1 engine/ecu that does.
The ones I know of are wired like this:

Re: Complete OBD 1 Conversion Harnesses

Hmm, maybe I was misinformed. I will look into this further...

Edit: You are indeed correct, the ECU has nothing to do with controlling the fan.
Maybe the signal from this wire allows the ecu to up the idle to match the electrical load of the cooling fans. I'm going to connect it and see if it gets rid of the slight idle fluctuation problem I've been having during and after the fans come on... If it's useless, I'll adjust the price and remove it from future harnesses. Thanks for catching this one.

Yeah I could give you a hand. You'll need to pick up a plate from cygnus, ecu, distributor, and whatnot.

I'm lucky that I have B20a2, so that harness will work just fine for me as it uses the same harness and ECU as my A20a4 no EGR engine..

kk.. It sounds interesting and promising.. I'll PM you for one harness with out EGR, have no CAT on my..
