yeah, seems pretty high for 65 Bucks though, there are some real good quality short shifters for around 30 bucks for newer cars. Man.... i wish it was like around 40 bucks atleast.

DC Sports also makes one for our car. Ans also, if you see one for an '84-'87 Civic, it will fit our car too. If you look at the the part number for the DC Sports shifter, then compare it to the 84-87 civic, they match.

They're shift levers with a higher fulcrum point than stock. This allows the shifter to physically move a shorter distance to shift gears. Hence the name 'short throw'.

I have a pacesetter adjustable throw shifter on my car. Definitely makes for quicker shifts, but it takes a bit more oomph to get it engaged.

How long ago was that? Their current product listing show's no shifters for any generation of accord.

Well i thank you all because my cousin just came up from south Miami and told me that his del sol has a DC short Shifter and he said it might fit our 3gz and i was just woundering. If you would like to see his del sol its real nice i should be getting pictures of it any day and I'll make a webpage for it, and about the pacesetter,

89AccordLvr fastfours.com sells pacesetter short shifter for very good money but i heard some bad things about them so its up to you if you should order from them
This is more to Sabz5150, have you encountered any problems with yours?and if so what problems, if not tell me how long have you had the short shifter.

Thanks to all that have responded to this post very helpful.

what i noticed with my Pacesetter is that yes, the throw is a little shorter, but that doesn't make your feet move any faster. with either shifter i find my cluth foot moving at the same speed, so in the end i don't know that it was worth it. it looks pretty cool though, if you're into that.

i also don't think that the Pacesetter is a good design. it is just a regualr shifter but you can move the pivot point. a real short shifter leaves the distance from the pivot to the linkage the same size as stock, but this one drops the linkage real far down. it makes the tourque rod rub the shift linkage. it's not the best.

people say that one from an 84-87 civic works, so i would try that one. and even though the Pacesetter really isn't that great it works, and i'm not really dissapointed with mine, so why not get one if you really want a short shifter. you can find those for around only $50. or, just don't get one.

Hmmm, they changed their website. I swear it used to list 86-89 Accords. I can't find any listings anywhere of the DC Sports shifter...but i did find that the part number of the 84-87 civic for the pacesetter shifter matches the 86-89 accord number. http://www.pacesetterexhaust.com/quikshift.htm

I'm quite happy with mine. I didn't have any problems with the shift rod rubbing the torque arm, but it did rub the heat shield over the cat. A couple wacks with a hammer made quick work of that though.

i found that you definitly can adjust it so that they don't rub, but then you really don't make the throw all that much shorter. i hammered out my heat sheild too, and i should have hammered it out a little more. it hits when i put it into 5th and reverse. that's just my fault.

I have my ball set just a bit above the middle of the threads. Its just about half the throw that it had stock and gives a good balance between throw distance and effort.

You hammered out the heat sheild. WOW I just cut a square out of it. I have my pacesetter dropped to the lowest setting and the linkage sticks out below the heat shield. I wouldn't recommend the lowest setting with a really short shift knob (It makes shifting a little tougher). But other wise it works great be sure to get the energy suspension bushings to help clear up some of the slop.

i at first put mine in as low as it would go and i could only move between 3rd and 4th gear because the torque rod rubbed the shift linkage. Am i the only one who had a problem with this?
