    Re: Another new guy

Hey guys, so first dumb question time... My speedo shoots up to like 70+ mph when I'm going at any speed (basically all the time) but when I stop it goes back to zero. So like it knows the car is moving, but its just not reading the speed correctly. Is this easily fixable or should I just try a new speedo cable?
I've just been guaging my speed with the rpms, i.e 30mph=2500rpm in 3rd gear, 45mph=2500rpm in 4th gear, etc.

and that sounds like your speedo cable to me. Worth a shot. I have yet to see a faulty speedometer, most are cable related

You can try greasing the cable, but I haven't had great success with that in the past. It's best to replace it.

Ok, thanks guys. I'll try to get this done before I head home to Hawaii for the summer in a couple of weeks. Hopefully I can get a new one quick enough.
