    Lack of power.

Ok my girlfriends 86 LX has been doing some weird things lately every so often it will stop accelerating at all esp when going up hill she cannot really tell me any of the syntoms but I will try to drive it soon. All I know is it has no power and she cannot even maintain speed it has started happening sense it got colder.

    What's ur verdict ?
Lack of power ? Bet either fuel system or distributor (centrifugal advance stuck!).

    I had the same problem

I had this same prob. my accord just kept cutting out of power for about 10 seconds then came back again.
so i changed the distributer, then my fuel filter, then my fuel pump and it was finnaly it was solved.
so its probably the fuel pump.
If when driving the power just goes away, like the engine cuts out then its the fuel pump.
You need to drive it to tell us the symptoms so we can help out more!
And its hard to get to cos its in the boot right next to the seat in the floor panel, so its actually in the fuel tank itself.

OK I fixed it I thought it might be the fuel pump and then one cold day it would not start when it warmed up a bit I got it started then to my house. I starter to take the air filter assembly apart with the plan to clean the carb damn good. After I cleaned the carb I noticed a slit in one of the vacume tubes on the right so I replaced it. Upon further inspection I noticed another one was severed and yet another one with a leak. So I replaced all three (I had extra from when I changed all mine to blue and red) Now no more problems. One thing is for sure her 86 lx auto is damn slow I cannot stand driving my LXi 5 speed then going to her car.
