    Newbie here from Oregon

I have many cars but out of all I choose my 89 accord lx-i for my daily driver. A20a3 automatic. But I'm ok with that for a daily. I'm here cause I love the 3rd gen accord for some reason it's just an interesting car and I have a lot of knowledge of them from my years of building. Also I was hoping to find a cheap distributor td01n. Because of course I have the fluttering tach problem. And it doesn't like to idle very will win the ac on. And I want to further my knowledge about this specific 3gee car. Because I'm never selling the one I have now. All stock accept ksport coilovers. 15x9 +0 xxr527's to much of an offset but I had them laying around. Yakima roof rack 91lx spoiler. Voltage stabalizer. And stereo. It's my dd cruiser. 351k on body still very nice. I've owned since 87k and rebuild only once at 277k only due to valve seals but did it all to freshen up the car. Can't upload pics from my iPhone though...

Welcome from California! Your tach sounds like a classic igniter failure. Download the manual and test it per p. 24-9. (BTW, there are two page 24-9's). If it ends up being the distributor, the Richporter distributors on eBay seem to be pretty good.

I recently installed a Richporter distributor and it seems to be working fine. Previous to it, I had a Cardone remanufactured distributor on the engine. I bought the Cardone from Advance Auto Parts in 2010, as I recall. It had a limited lifetime warranty. But, since Advance Auto no longer carried Cardone, they provided the new Richporter as a replacement under the warranty.

The issue with the Cardone distributor was a persistently rough acceleration and failure to maintain smooth engine performance under load, such as going up a long hill, in an rpm range of about 2400 - 2800; it was most noticeable at about 2500 rpm. I had been thinking, for quite some time, that the cause might be a vacuum leak but I could not locate a vacuum leak. So, I took the car to a local repair shop and went for a test drive with a technician. They agreed the culprit was probably the distributor. Replacing it has proven that assessment to be correct.

Ignitor is new I know it's the distributor, the bushing is work on the bottom cup and the reluctor is hitting the posts makes it run really rough. I have 3 bad distributors for it from over the years. @ niles where at in Oregon?

I love the way they look on the 3gee accord. You can get cheap roof racks at Walmart. $30 but I would only recommend it for looks. I have a Yakima cause I haul my bikes.

I really like how they look too. I was looking at a Thule, I think I'm digging their baskets!
