    b20a5

Ive been searching and searching the last couple of weeks and cannot find hardly any definitive info on the B20a5 from 3rd gen Preludes. I have a chance to buy one in the next month or so and have a ? I know their are no after market IM's for them and most people opt for the B21a IM because it flows a little better and has dual runners but has anybody here actually retrofit an aftermarket IM from another motor? Ive seen mention of B18 manifolds but no actual pics or write-ups of whats needed or any results of said mod. from what ive gathered these are bastard motors.

I probably should have been more specific... I was talking about modding a B18B/C or any of the other B16/B20 variants

For more info on the B20A5 I would direct you to the 3rd gen section of PreludePower:

3rd Gen - Honda Prelude Forum : Honda Prelude Forums

There are far more 3g Prelude owners there than here. Not that we don't want you here, but 2g Preludes and 3g Accords are the specialty here.

I've looked at these motors before, and as I recall the intake port pattern is different enough that I don't think any of the common B series variants are compatible.

Yeah thats where i came across what little info there was; most the threads dont really go anywhere tho. Seen in a thread or two them mentioning port matching one of another Bseries but not which one. A few of them were porting and polishing the stock units but its kind of hard to do accuratly w/out cutting them up and rewelding

I did an intake manifold swap once.....
I used a GSR Skunk2 manifold and it fit quite well.

Even with the vtec head in there everything can fit. Most people will say cant be done. But i did this years ago. Preludepower doesnt have all the answers, trust me. This pic is a preliminary shot when i was doing a lot of R&D for this setup. Its complete now.

    Re: b20a5

I have some somewhere. Im also lazy and nobody cares anyway... tried sharing some info on other forums but no one gives a crap about doing a vtec conversion to a B20/21 these days. This is the only existing vtec conversion if i recall now.
The GSR aftermarket manifolds fit to clarify... i did it twice with a Skunk2 and a Blox too. Just requires a lil machining and it works fine on the bastard B20 heads.

Does it even fit properly? Doesn't look like any of the oil passages are aligned with each other.

I'm sure it would work with a lot of welding and fabrications but then how many people have access to the tools and have the required skills to do so?

Post up the pics and videos too

Oh it all fits and works. There's a reason why this is the only one in existence. No one has the machine tools to make it. But it can be replicated.

    Re: b20a5

Yeah...no one has the shit, ok they melted it all down because they didnt give a shit about retrofitting reverse teching a slanted engine that only fits one car, they took the molted metal and made a wayback machine to take to their infant years and not eat their moms un-animal tested cosmetics and toxins left in reach, so that then when time caught up with them they wouldn't have wasted their time mastering impossible projects yet become so unenergetic to be entheusiastic about anything as they were during said project.
So much molting, so much smolting, all this bolting, so little jolting, anybody holding? Lmao

Its not too bad. Its a snug fit but works.
I wish i could put this engine and trans combo into a 2nd gen Si. That would be nice.

    Re: b20a5

I remember when Dart Mfg. Was makng blank b18 heads, Dart makes Chevy. And usdm racing engine blocks & heads. THIS was bfore the whole hate the imports trend with the hot rodders. There was a class for racing in circles with fwd cars that was starting out big but has come to be more of a bomber class now.
those would be good blanks to work with on a 3rd gen lude project I reckon.

    Re: b20a5

The B16 head works fine. Id like to do it with a GSR head honestly.
Anyone know where to get manifold adapters for an ET2 per chance? Id like to get new carbs for that.
