    LX vs LXi

ok so i have a nice looking 89 accord LX... stock, paint is pretty recent i guess cuz its in freaking great condition, everything in my car is good... before i got this car i was planning on buying my friends 86 LXi, and i never knew the difference between the models until i came to this forum, the thing about the 86's is that they dont look as good, the body seems kind of flatter and not as in depth as 89's (i parked mine and his side by side today and looked at differences)... overall i like my car better, but i asked for his keys today to go hear the engine and rev it and its throttle response is SO MUCH better!!!!!!!!!! god i fucking love it, it sounds hella nice too, if i wait a month or 2 i can probably buy his for 1000 or less, so i will end up with an EXTRA 1,000 give or take a couple hundred dollars, but it has 205,000 on it, but that doesnt bother me. im trying to decide if i should get it or not... one thing that makes me want to keep my car is the fact that u cant always race people and go fast, but u can always have it looking good, like mine but yeah im seriously considering getting his accord unless i find a good deal on a 89 LXi in that time. i want to know what u guys think of this matter thanks!

i think you should keep your car.. just take the 1000 that you plan on using and drop another engine in there.. by then you should have speed and looks.

keep the lx and mod it, you can make it as fast or even faster,
free up the intake with flipped lid and K&N, get free flowing exaust and header and your car will rev a little faster.

I'd buy the LXi without a second thought...Think about it, you'd get an extra 20 hp right off the bat, then slap an Intake, header and catback...and all the other possibilities of modding the fuel system...

dont you wanna see this instead of a big ugly carb?

All of this takes money. You all assume he has some. I think that he means what should he do if he could ONLY keep one ar buy the other, not keep or buy and then build on.

It's easy to make a 86 look exactly like your 89

All you need is to change the front blinkers/grille, bumpers, moldings and trunk

    Thanks all

Hey thats what Im planning on doing with my 86. Making it look like an 86-89. I've already done the front bumper. grille, eyebrows, sidelamps, and Gauge cluster. I have the tails sitting in my garage with a trunklid for when i paint the car in the spring. I just need the rear bumper, but I kinda like the 86-87..

Come on down to CA with that Weber of yours and see what happens. CA emissions laws suck.
