    Question exhaust?

i need a new muffler to pass safety and emmissions(there is a hole rusted in the muffler, big exhaust leak, can't even get emmission readings...), and i was wondering what i should do for exhaust. i don't have much money, and i plan to sell this car for $1500+ come summer. i can get a universal muffler from autozone for $17, and they said low end performance mufflers start at $30. should i get a cheap performance muffler and get new piping(2.25") from the cat back(stock cat still...), or keep the stock piping, or just get the universal?

how bad is the stock piping ? if its still in good shape i would just get a new muffler and leave the piping ...if you need the piping too....you could get that cat back system from pacesetter

i would keep the stock piping if it's in good shape. whoever buys the car is probably not going to want it to be loud.

lol, my pipe split (rust) at the end of last winter, so i just got a 2in chrome pipe put on from the muffler out. i don't think its rice, but it adds a nice touch to the car.

well, i got my exhaust done today. it was $130. i got a turbo muffler, and i had to replace some of the piping, so i just did 2.25" from the cat back. they also threw in a free chrome tip(looks stock, except bigger). if i can borrow a digi-cam, i'll post pics sometime. oh yeah, it would've been $100 if i would've stuck with stock piping...

well, it's not a loud setup(good for resale), but it is deffinitely not stock. it's deeper, and slightly louder than stock. i'm liking it more and more. i wouldn't mind a louder deeper sound, but oh well. as far as performance, i'm sure there was a slight gain, but i didn't notice any. i'm sure if i got headers and a new cat then i'd notice something. or when i get my intake
