    '88's Blow

OK, so actually it's just the opposite, I'm thinkin' they're the best year of the 3G. I mean really, 88 was the 1st year of the coupe. That seems to be the most common year out there. Also, and here's where it hits home, that was the year that Honda offered the most and best available colors for the 3G. I mean, that champaigne w/black trimmed interior=mint. And the best display of interior color= The Red 88 DX Hatch! Black interior... ...mmmm!!!

Now the only argument that I forsee is that the SE-i was available in '89 with a dumpload of colors inside and out. Not to mention the other amenities that complimented the SE-i. But I'm still stickin' to my argument that the 88 is the best.

PS... My beater is an '88, and "The Hatch" is an '89.

If i recall, help me someone, there was an article, well actually a giant scanned jpg image, about honda, and it stated that 1989 was the biggest year for honda. period. the accord surpased in sales for any other sedan/small car in its class, that INCLUDES the ford escort (shitty cars..really). I'd think 89 because, no not because i own one, the se-i was a highlight of their product, and they had achieved their maximum of options/sales/etc. and then they changed design..

Of course 88 is the best. All 89 models were made in 88.

Anyhow, 88 and 89 models are the same thing so why say mine is better than yours?

Good point, but I'm already sportin' the "hp deprived DX" so why not get one with a little more pleasant interior splash.

However, I'm not a fan of RED

I have to say that the 88 accord looks the best by far.
But maybe that's just because I own one.

Are there any exterior design differences between 88 and 89?

The best year? I have a question about this question though and that is under what/which condition?

Under what conditions make a car or year of the car the best car compared to the other years?

he did explain that. it's in terms of stuff like options and praise, not the car itself in terms of engineering. In my opinion, it's stll a 3gee.

It's still a 3G Accord so regardless of the year, it should be the same, that's if you don't think of the difference in power. But then again, like I've said in my very first post, the cars are the same so we don't need to say mine is better than yours or stuff like that.

actually the intent of this thread and the "88's are the best" notion is sole'ly based on the color scheme options available for the car. Although it's cool that the 88 is the first year of the m/c (minor change) which included more power, this decision was based completely on looks. Newer more low profile front bumpers, new colors available both inside and out, 14" wheels on LX-i's from 13 (I know they had to, but that's beside the point). And with that said, 88 was the only year of the black hatch interior, the only year of the beige/black interior, and the only year that certain paint colors were available. Personally tho, I'm partial to my hatch. I can't pinpoint any certain year tho b/c the hatch kept the front bumper of the 86-87's, and altho mine's an 89, I've got 88 interior, and I'm sportin' an '87 LX-i tranny.

88 is the best year, not only because of a few cosmetic changes and power increases, but also because it was the year before neutral safety switches and crap like that. I always like the ability to stick my head thru the open window and turn on the car without having to get in and push in the clutch. Makes life easier when yer showing off the car to a group of people. Pus the 88 doesn't have all those stupid red labels on the center armrest. So that's why the 88 is better than any other 3gee (and why I drive one )
