    please help with engine ID

I'm in the middle of doing my head gasket on 81 Civic 1300 but the part I ordered does not fit. The engine number on the engine itself is different than on the car. Car# EN1-1577045.
    On the engine# EN1-1041922.

Can anyone please tell me why the gasket won't fit?
And which engine this is ?

    Thanks a bunch!!

EN1 is still a 1300 engine. What exactly didn't fit? They probably sent you a wrong gasket (as always)

It says its the right part for my car... But an engine swap was done who knows when with a similar engine. Not exact. I googled the part 09-00908 and it matches. Another but, the engine ID # on the car is different than # on engine.
    ggrrr....

I accidentally ordered a gasket set off eBay for a 1500. Definitely not a 1500. Just too small.

the 1500 and the 1300 that go in that car are the same dimensions externally if I remember right. I dont think you have a 1500, but it was very very common to drop in the 1500 from the same car.

Agreed. A 1500 would be better for power and more common availability for parts etc. !

they came in both but the 1500 was far more popular, it's a simple drop in swap, as it's the same car. The 1300 is actually much stronger on the bottom end, as it came with a full stud girdle

So, if you have torque specs for a head gasket job, that would be so great!
However... Since I've had so much difficulty identifying this engine, I hope it matches!

Truly no rush. I don't even have the part yet. London is so far away...
