    Fuel Gauge

Hey whenever I'm driving my fuel gauge raises slightly then when i stop it goes back down to where it began. I know its not the gas in the tank because me old accord and my dads dosen't have that problem. Any ideas what could be causing it to do that? Thanks.

Maybe it's cause of the increased power when the alternator is spinning faster? The guage is getting a stronger signal and such...

isnt there a float in the tank that reads the amount of gas you have ...when you stop the gas moves around in the tank and gets a different reading...then you start going and it goes back

Well that did come to my mind but it didnt do that on my old accord or my dads so i was just asking in case there was something weak to do with the fuel system or something.

ok here is what you problem is.
88-89 accords had diff fuel gauge. it was more advanced and it could keep the fuel level at all times.
on 86087 accords that was not offered. when i got my 86 LX it had that problem, but now when i have 88-89 gauge on it, it doesn't do it anymore.
the other thing is that if you are going uphills or downhills you will see that the gauge goes up or down, and i think it is normal because when you goup or go down hill the fuel shifts and it will raise or lower the float.
