    1982 Honda Accord JDM/European Grille

First, I would like to thank everyone for all the thoughtful posts. Your energy has been invaluable over the past year. I was lucky enough to find a great 1982 Honda Accord LX which I've spent the last year trying to restore to its original form. We drove it out to Long Beach for the 10th Annual Japanese Classic Car Show and had a wonderful time - 2600+ miles.

I found a pair of JDM head lights which fit perfectly, but it's apparent the grille is a different from the USA version. I was wondering if anyone might know of any resources that might have the JDM grille.

JDM Head lights installed with no modification. Grille didn't fit properly.

I would appreciate any help in locating one of these grilles.

    Thanks,
    Rich

Nice car, in good condition! Bumper withouth scarch and sunlight demage...wow
I tought only had headlight difference between US and European version.
When I looked at US version always felt subsequent conversion. Toght that it's necessity for different lighting standard.
As the grill show this headlight and nose was planned form. Booth version cool but I more like european.

Thanks for the help. Looks like I found a grille. I'll post pictures when I put it all together.

Looking for one more part. Honda 62331-SA5-000 this is the stainless steel trim piece for the passenger side of the grill around the headlight. I've tried the US version but they bend at a different point. I did find the driver side and the center piece. I'm almost ready to put it all together. I have all the parts but this piece. I'm setting up the outside light as a daylight running light.

I was side tracked last month and put new oil valve seals on the car and a new camshaft. I also found a complete set of the original optional 1982 aluminum alloy rims that I started polishing.

Great car- any more pics? Parts in the UK are pretty hard to come by- I've been looking for a set of the alloy wheels for about 5 years so I've got a case of alloy rim-envy.

I know it sounds a bit crazy but New Zealand has a great stock of parts, and that trim won't cost much to mail. If you get stuck this web site may be worth a try- Strong for Honda Honda parts new and Honda car spares Specialists

Thanks for the great information. I sent a note to the folks in New Zealand for some other parts I needed. I found that last piece for the JDM grille trim in Belgium and its on its way. I should be able to put everything together once the weather improves.

Here's a picture of one of the rims. I just started polishing them.

You know, I have two Chevy trucks as old as these Accords. I can go online and buy every part ever used in those two trucks from any number of websites and have shiny, new parts in a week. Moreover, I can buy a bazillion aftermarket goodies for them that are superior to the OE parts many times and allow me to turn those trucks into anything my heart could desire. When it comes to the Accord, however, we have to comb the earth to find the last remaining whatever it is we need. Or scavenge the junkyards like starving dogs looking for some slightly less broken part than what we already have. And aftermarket goodies? No way.

It really cheeses me off that Honda is so blockheaded about their classic models as to offer zero support to any restorer or aspiring aftermarket supplier. They really are committed to the destruction of their brand.

Loving the rims. I'll keep scavenging at the scrapyards like a starving dog and maybe one day I'll get lucky. Having said that I also drive a Chrysler 300c (don't ask), and buying anything for that here in the UK involves selling my soul, and sometimes my ass, to pay for it.

Nice score on thh wheels. I've got the same ones for my 'lude. Love them. Could use some polish, but hard to beat classic H wheels.

Are those the same H center caps as the CRX and other early civics? or the really early ones? I have three that match and one that is an earlier version, mine are the more common ones though, if yours is the older one you may want my oddball center cap

I know this is way off topic, but I would be very interested in the center caps for the aluminum wheels. I have one that is OK and one very rough.

See photo. The total height of the cap is about 2.7 cm( 1 inch )

I promise to post photos of the JDM grille soon I received the last part today)

    Also sorry for offtopic.
I bought some parts from 1984 1.8 ccm sedan ( like this:
    File:Honda Accord 4 door sedan UK 1983.jpg - Wikimedia Commons )
and its centercap is also different like my '83 1.6 hatch.

Left side is my 83 hatchback's cap.
