Just wondering what you guys let it climb to before popping it into the next gear. (for me 3500 usually)

Highest for me ever was 6000. Usually I take it to 3500 when normal, and 2500 if im lazy. 4500 is best for the racing, imo.

well when my dad is driving, its like 2300 and 3000 when there are people honkin at his slow ass! and when i drive, its 3000 every time and when i am racin, i dont even look at the tach... just rev until no more power then slam the clutch and leave the foot on the gas!

I usually shift at around 4000 when I'm driving normally, when I'm racing its between 5 and 6000.

usually around 3000-3500. it varies by gear. i'm no speed racer.
oh yeah, and this isn't a poll.

i guess you mean looking at the tach, and i'm with you there. i shift by ear/feel.Originally posted by Blue Impact
Normal somewhere from 2,750 to 3,000. I do so without looking at the clutch, but rather sensing the tranny.

8,700-9,200 Single overhead:super:
5500 because when u shift ur still above the 3000 rpm "sweet spot"
normal 4000rpm when i am lazy 2500rpm, and when i am racing 6300rpm.
Alex.
3000-4000 normally, but its a stick, so i dont have as much control as i would like. the highest its ever gone is 6000
nornaly 4,500 but when racing as high as 8,000
it doesn't do anything to rev higher than red line does it? isn't that the point of peak power? oh well, i shift at about 3000rpms cause thats what the manual said is best for gas mileage and usually i can just shift when i feel it instead of looking at the tach.

the redline is the maximum rpm the engine can do without blowing up, it's ok to bring it to redline every once and a while but don't keep it there very long

Well, the EFI engine won't let you rev past 6600 rpms, and peak power is @ 5800 RPMs. Since max torque is @ 4500 RPMs, you'll want to hit the limiter each gear to get the fastest speed. This is because you want the RPMs to fall right on or above that peak torque value when you shift.
During daily driving I usually shift @ no higher than 4000 RPMs.
ditto but it's usually 4000 rpms(when i had my 87 manual...)Originally posted by Grant2k

I have my TV cable set to shift my auto at 6250, basically redline
Normal driving its 4500 (i drive fast normally). If I'm driving my parents or my daughter its a respective 3000. Every once and a while I'll go to the rev limiter for shits and giggles.

normal driving: 3000-4000
go fast driving: 6300-6500
normal is 4K and when racing it's now 8,200 with the B16
