    Help With My New Intake

    HEy fellas,

I was just browsing at the local automotive store when I saw a pod filter for $25 Australian ($12.50 American). I thought BARGAIN! So I bought it.

Now I need to build myself an intake. Now due to the cheap price of the filter, I want to keep the intake cost as low as possible. My accord isn't built for speed. I can't make my A20A4 go fast because:

    a) its an A20A4
    b) i have an auto, and we all know how much power is sucked off becuase of the auto
    c) i have power steering
    d) i am a student, and therefore, i am pov (poverty stricken!)

so in conclusion, I need some advice building myself an intake that will work.

I took off all the stock intake this morning, just to check everything out, and I have two problems.

The first problem is the hoses connecting to the stock air filter compartment. What are those hoses, and how i do connect to my new intake?

My second problem is another hose connected to the stock intake.

What do I do with these? Can I leave them alone, or do i connect them to my new intake.

However, I am concerned to what happens with those hoses, because what if they put out some shit exhaust fumes and they get sucked into the engine? Am I then screwed? -

REally need some advice on this one,

    Thanks,
    Sanjay

Ok here you go a intake made from the stock C shaped tune it is on a ford tempo here but it will fit I made it from my 88 LXi C tube.
Just drill holes for the vacume tubes.

should be positioned like this in the end

Just drill holes for the vacume tubes. and use grommits if needed.

just make one out of the stock U/C bend which goes from the trottle body to the filter box, like 1988starter said that would be the cheapest.

can't make one out of the stock stuff cause it doesn't fit into my filter cone.

Its alright, I'll just get a stainless steel pipe and use that!

Does the shape matter at all? Or could i have it straight rather than bent!?

you could have the pie straight it would be the easiest way. you would only need about 6" of pipe. easy and cheap.

I have a picture of the first short air intake i made for my 3G. It is on my homepage. It used part of the stock air intake and all i had to buy was a short piece of 3 inch stainless steel pipe bent at about 30 degrees, any muffler shop should have a pice like it laying around for under 10 bucks.

good luck and i hope this helps

I just sent off a couple packages, one to Australia and one to New Zealand, not very expensive at all.

with the short ram intakes, it is better to have a short ram intake or keep the system stock? what are the performance differences?
I went to a exhaust shop, and they said that colder air is better, and rather than sucking hot air from under my hood, I should keep the stock system. ??? what to do?

performance maybe 3KW. but the best thing about having a short ram intake is the exhaust note difference, since i put mine on it sound like i have a complete new exhaust system.
what type of exhaust have you got??
