can i make a bypass valve?

I was thinking about making a CAI for my car, but it is winter and it rains and there are puddles and i dont want to mess up my engine. How do i make a bypass valve so that i dont suck up water? Do i have to buy one or can i make it myself?

I wouldn't chance it by making one. Could ruin your engine if you make it wrong. They aren't that expensive though, I think the highest I have seen them is $40.

Don't chance it, buy a real one.
