did i hear stage 2?!?! sorry, got in on the end of this tread. yeah, from what everyone is saying all you have to do is get the stage 2, don't drive the hell out of it (thats not good for anything), and give it a proper break in. does that work?

I use a 4 puck solid hub for my car and have not yet broke a tranny with hd plate from ACT.
I riped my tranny to pieces when i put my stage 2 clutch in, but i ran it hard. They are right my motor mounts were fryed in about two months. The front one was so bad that it came aoart in 2 pieces! Don't abuse it and it will be ok.

to address the statement a clutch dosent give you more power . It will not give you any more power at the flywheel , but since the average drivetrain consumes 15% of the power between the wheels and flywheel , since the new clutch is more efficient at holding that horsepower shouldnt you then gain more at the wheels . Probably nominaly , but it makes sense to me

I put my centerforce dual friction in about 2 months ago, and it is great. BUT damit, now my synchros in my tranny are going. Really bites, anyone rebuild one of this trannys at home, and is there any upgrades we can do to it ?

UPDATE
wanted to add some current info to this thread, this issue is still coming up from time to time. another point you want to look at,if you add a stiff clutch, the shock of it engaging over and over, will eventually wear on the thrust surfaces of your crankshaft, every time the clutch engages, the shock will transfer through the crank, which will put load on the thrust washers, wearing them. the entire crank wants to walk forward in the block. If you get a clutch upgrade,go to a centrificial clutch, this engages easy and holds by a different method other then stiff springs in the clutch plate. also a stiff clutch is hard on the clutch cable. make sure if you upgrade, that your dog bone is in decent shape, this keeps the motor from rocking backwards, this is the most common reason the front and rear motor mounts fail. they have a motion range they are designed for, without that dog bone damping the motion, they get overextended.
Who makes the centrifical clutches that wont ruin anything?
Hmmm interesting i've not really had too much of an issue with the thrust washers wearing out?? but will keep an eye on it, luckily when i had the bottom of the block out i did have some play but as it had done 15k race miles and before when i rebuilt it i didn't have anyspare so i just used the best 2nd hand ones that i had which probably didn't help!! lol!! I pulled the engine a while ago and put it back in with the new ones in their is no play in the crank anymore. As with the trannies blowing could be any number of reasons if they allready had a fair amount of mileage on them. I've got a completely rebuilt teg tranny with uprated bearings and new syncros seems to be fine and yes upgrading the dog bone is a very good idea i just added duck tape to the rubber bush and bashed it back into the dogbone, now stiff as poly and next to no movement on the engine :O)

I was told i have a stage 2 in my car. I think its a stage 1(recepets). But it grabs fine, quick when needed, and slips. DO NOT PUT A STAGE 3 UNLESS YOUR TURBO AND PUSH HIGH HP!!! I drove a stealth with a stage 3 clutch and it was hell. so stiff and it grabbed so damn fast.
