    88 Honda Accord Lx Carb'd

    Hello there,

I'm new to this forum, I've been lurking for a while there's allot of great content here. I just recently picked up an 88 Honda Accord with 79xxx miles on it for 800 bucks. The car is mint, it has little to no rust and the interior is clean. It is a 88 Accord Lx with a Carb engine and a Automatic Transmisssion. Since i've purchased it i replaced all of the belts(incluiding the timing belt) , spark plugs, air filter, fuel filters, front breaks, right axle, waterpump, distributer cap and rotor, cam and crank seals, valve cover gasket seal, and the radio and all of the speakers. The car runs excellent except for some rough shifting. I just purchased some Honda transmission fluid and i'll be doing a drain and fill on Tuesday.

Welcome! This is exactly what I do after buying a used car. Unless the PO handed me a stack of receipts showing when the last major service was performed, I assume that it wasn't. Thank you for taking good care of your 3g.

Save some time later and replace oil filter adapter base gasket and the oil pump gaskets (seals) these all tend to leak due to age. Easy to do exept tbe oil base sea, access is tough without a lift or remove the intake then its right there.

Add to your list, upper control arms and ball joints. I've had shit luck.. my rear ball joint broke, the wheel caved inward and bent the spindle. I replaced it with a shitty junk yard spindle. Rear spindles are hard to come by. I replaced both control arms and ball joints. I took a look at my front control arms and ball joints and they look like shit as well. Just ordered replacements and ill be replacing those next week sometime. Im wary of driving the car at the moment.

I hear a noise coming from the front passenger side wheel well, sounds like a knocking sound , I hear it when i slowly go over speed bumps or if i drive over a slight bump on that side of the car. Any ideas? I've checked the struts and they seem fine.
