    Rims and Tires

I think i've made up my mind to take my christmas money and some bank account money and finally get some wheels. I've pretty much decided on the Motegi MR5 16" silver, (i have 5 spoke hubcaps anyway ) and wrap them in some 205/45/16 Pirelli P7000 Super Sport z-rated tires that i found an extremely kick ass deal on. I think it'll look sweet along with my black car tho. Does anyone else have the MR5's? I know coroncho has the mr7's, or at least it looks like it.

yeah that bad part is they're 19 lbs, but i'm willing to sacrifice that little bit of speed (which will be gained back) for the looks. They also fit my budget since the silver ones are $125 a piece. The car needs rims bad, and thats pretty much the style i want. Jim, what do u think of the tire size and those tires? I found them for $87 a piece. Also, approx. how much do the stock lxi rims weigh, how much of a difference would the 19 lbs make? just curious.

Tire size is perfect. Since I'm pretty sure that brand of rims only offers 40mm and not 45mm I can't tell you go try 215/40 or 214//45. Stick with the 205/45-16 tire it's the correct plus size and will fit perfect with the 40mm offset.

19lbs is heavier than oem, which are likely 16lbs. Keep in mind that the tire's are going to weigh more as well. But P7000's are known for being lighter that other tire's so go figure. As far as how much the weight will effect performance? All I can say is My 15's weighed more than my oem 13" steelies. I'll bet that the differance you will see will be about the same. I did notice a differance in acceleration between between the two. On one hand I wished I would have gotten lighter rims to not take the acceleration hit. On the other I bought what I could afford at the time and I don't honestly think I could have weighted for the money to afford lighter one's. If your not the type of person that accelerate's hard allot of the time, I wouldn't worry about it. No matter what, rim's and tire's of any kind are needed to bring out the real fun of our car's, I sure wouldn't go over 20lbs rim weight though.

BTW, it's not just acceleration, lower wheel/tire weight's have a benefit with the car's ride and handling as well.

good to hear then.....thats why i went with that tire size.....car's lowered 2.25" front and back, and i have the dc sports front strut tower brace. I'm currently looking for a rear brace but can't seem to find one. Sometime in the spring, i plan on getting new struts. What would you advise me to get for the front and rear, on a reasonable budget.......i guess after all thats done she'll handle quiet reasonable It already does now, but there's more room for imporvement As for the acceleration problem with the heavier wheels, i do have mods that will help with that, and i'm continually putting on more goodies that will help as well. Thanx for the info tho.

You'll never find a rear strut bar, they don't exist BUT,... Justin from Adminstration on the board aka 88turboaccord does make a rear strut bar from time to time. When you have cash in hand send him a pm and ask him when he might get around to making a batch of them.

For struts go with Koni's. The other struts do not have enough power to deal with your springs. They cost more than the other's, but if you want if done right, it is the price you'll pay. $424 from www.shox.com w/free shipping.
