    Honda, Tokico or KYB Struts

    Hi Guys:

I've come to realize that suspension work is expensive and there is no way around it. Either pay now for quality or pay even more at a later time to rectify the earlier error. Instead of going with coilovers, I'm going to stick with my standard setup of Honda springs and struts. This is the best alternative for me since I don't plan on lowering the car or changing wheel & tire size.

What would you guys recommend as far as struts: Honda OEM, Tokico or KYB GR-2 struts?

    Many thanks,
    Claude

P.S. Jim thanks for all the good info on the springs and struts. It was very helpful and has beeen much appreciated.

go with tokicos... even with the stock springs, it will provide a little firmer ride...

Your welcome Claude. I could see a arguement that the Tokico's should be slightly stiffer than oem or the oem Kyb GR-2's. In that line of thought, if and I mean "IF" you might ever get rims and tire's, it might work a bit better with slightly stiffer struts on the car. Just a thought.

As far as which of the 3 choices will be more durable choice, I don't know. I do know the Tokico's and GR-2's can be used with stiffer lowering springs, when they really shouldn't be and that will push ANY brand of strut to die a early death. Bigger question is how long do they last when their used on a STOCK suspension like they're surposted to be used.

You should be able to get the Tokico's for $235 for the set.
The KYB's are cheap as heck at www.tirerack.com, $148 for 4
As I've explained in a previous post claude read, GR-2's are no stiffer than stock and should not be used on a lowered car.
