Talking Stock Project Car, what first????

Okay i get my license in two months and i'm just startin to do some mods with my car, me and my buddy are gonna try to do some heavy work on it in the next few months and he knows a lot about engines and everything about cars, but not mine in particular seeing that he drives a 99 tahoe. so i was wondering if ya'll could fill me in on what to do first and what something is gonna cost and what is free and what will give me a good upgrade, but most importantly , the order i should do it in. thanks bro-hosses

Well you got to crawl before you can walk.SO iwould start with plugs&wires intake and exhaust.
Stop bench racing and pick up a wrench

I know my spelling sucks and I suck with computers deal with it.

I have so many mods that I have done. I didn't do them in a particular order though. Just bought what I could afford at the time. I think exhaust is first though get a custom cat back and nice muffler. then get intake and headers and then ignition.

I did not mean in that order just what ever he would want first just the little things that make a diffrence but that are almost a nesesity.

the best place to look for mods is people's signature. Just like Elijah and Mike. besides, i wont recommend an ignition system until the stock one is failing or you got other mods in.

    - Rebuild the motor, if you really want to and if you have the time and money

    - Cold air intake: dont buy one, make one. the pipe is about 12 bucks from JC Whitney and the air filter is like 20 bucks and rubber connectors are like 3 bucks each from home depot or u can also use ur stock ones (from a efi).

    - Full exhaust with High-flow cat and muffer (dynomax preffered for the money and performance)

    - Pacesetter header(efi or carb) or custom made one or a used DC sports (only for efi) if u can find one

    - remove compressor if ac is not working, and all ac lines and condensor (not a real performance part, but does free up some space in the engine bay, reduces weight in the front [ around 30lbs in total] and frees up some horses at the crank)

    - get coil overs or shocks and coils seperate with a min of 1.5" drop. Shocks preferred are Konis and Ground Contorl.
((wanna lower it more than 1.5", then dont get a camber kit in the front, get a second gen lude arms))

    - Get some 205 width tires and rims of ur choice.

    - get a clutch kit (centerforce or ACT) if you have a manual and short shifter too

    - Get a CAM, reground from colt or anyother place.

    - get a lude ECU if u have a efi.

thats about what i can think of right now. but u can always add in NOS or go Turbo or even superchage if ur a fanatic.

if you really have some money you can put in another engine, like a B20 or a B18. that would run $1500 if you do it yourself and you get good deals, most likely more though. you can also advance your timing a couple degrees. with the ignition get some ngk plugs and i'm nort sure which wires are the best, but i'm gonna go with the preformance ngk wires. i'd also say find yourself an H4 diamondback headlight conversion, i love mine, you can see so much better(not to mention brighter bulbs as well ) and welcome to the board
