Greetings, and a plea for a scanned '88 aerodeck owner's manual

Hello reader. My name is Carlo. I am of Italian birth. After 17 long years of residence in the Netherlands, I have recently relocated to Switzerland.

Here is an image of my '84 Civic, which has recently had to be annihilated:

I had owned it since May 2011. Thanks to gentle prodding by German car makers, the Dutch government has decided to remove most of the advantages that had existed since time immemorial for those who took care of their old cars. Anyway, the rust around the back wheels had become quite substantial, and when relocating I decided to bring along my motorbike (a yellow Honda pan-european ex-ambulance:

) but to allow the soul of the Civic to transmigrate to its next existence in another dimension. Not without driving it yet another time from NL to CH to NL. As usual, without a glitch. What a great friend...

Here I have no need for a car (I live at 5 minutes on foot from my workplace), but the reappearance on the local market of a '88 Aerodeck was too much of a temptation. I am going to pay three times as much for work on it than what I paid to the original owner, but I love the car - it is practically my Civic grown up a little bit. Here are a couple of images that I recently received from the mechanic who is working on it:

This is one of the few cars that I had desired to own for purely aesthetic reasons
(another one is the 1st gen prelude, but that'd be even less justified). I should receive it by the end of next week - should have been here already, but the technical control was not passed due to a joint of the front left wheel (their words). Nothing that a few more swiss francs and one week's time could not cure.

Anyway, cars/motorcycles do not make people happy, but they are a nice surrogate.

My biggest regret is that the original user manual was lost. I could find the workshop manual online, all's good with that. But there are all those many buttons and levers and whatnot (e.g. cruise control!!) and I'd have loved to read how their usage was explained.

My question to the forum is: has by chance anybody scanned his/her copy? If so, could I receive a digital copy? I searched the usual places on the web but had no success.

Thanks in advance for any help, and have a good day

Welcome Carlo. I can understand the desire for an Aerodeck "purely for aesthetic reasons". They're amazing ! Such a unique body ! Yours is very clean too ! And a great colour !

As for the manual. I think there maybe a few floating around on this website. Give it a look.

Well, silver is silver. Personally, I'd have welcomed something less ordinary, but in this specific circumstance there is added value: it is the same color of my old Civic.

Many thanks for the URL. But that's the shop manual. Very useful, I already downloaded it. But it is not the owner's manual.

I now see a couple of what seems to be the thing I am looking for, for sale on ebay germany, and I can even avoid using paypal (I am allergic to paypal). Maybe my problem is on its way to be solved.

Oh that's great. Personally I love silver. It's an easy colour to maintain. I'm glad it has sentimental value for you

My apologies !! I got the two mixed up. I have an owner's manual in Japanese. I am unsure why I sent you the workshop manual. My bad :P

That's great. My friend picked up a NOS spoiler for the Aerodeck from eBay Germany. It was maybe 150eur shipped !

Sorry, can't help you on the manual, but welcome anyway! Your Aero looks great. What are you having done to it?

I'll try to keep the car as close to the original as I can! The masters from the good old days, when Honda was still producing nice cars, knew what they were doing. I will focus on keeping it in working order, fighting a solitary war against rust, and will soon appropriately celebrate Easter with a 800+800km trip.

A manual should be on its way to my mailbox. I made the payment this morning.

A good printed manual is probably the best investment you can make in the car. You won't be sorry you bought it. Please keep us posted on your work on the car. Us curmudgeonly fossils love the factory restorations!
