    2.5 muffler compatibility. quick question

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1876038401

amber and i both like this style muffler a lot... and we're wondering if it will work with our cars. i have 2.25 piping, and she WILL have 2.25 piping.

if we take this muffler to a shop can they bolt it on with some sort of a converter or something, or will this pose a big problem?

on a side note, does rusted out exhaust tubing cause a lot of power loss, there is a 2-3" size hole rusted out of ambers exhaust tubing! lol....

anyway could we use these on our cars, or should we look elsewhere for a 2.25 inlet muffler?

oh yeah a rust hole results in loss of gas velocity. sort of like you know when everyone says dont go bigger then 2.25 piping. because the bigger piping reduces the speed of the flow of exhuast effectively making your car have less horse power then stock. but you will have higher hp at the high rpms.

(there ya go guys i didnt say BACKPRESSURE)
ACT Stage 1, Short Ram Intake & 2.25 Dynomax custom catback w/4inch carbon fiber tip. Thats it for now.

I'd think there would be no problem doing the mount but at 6" for height the thing is really gonna stick out, I guess that's what you're looking for, though.

that wont really apply here, it would if he was runing 2.5" from the cat back, but this is just the very end of the exhaust system. There wont be any noticeable difference between that muffler and one that has a 2.25" inlet.

    bobafett,
To answer your question, any exhaust shop will be able to convert the 2.25" to 2.5" no problem.

hmm. farty eh? dunno if i am looking for that kind of sound...
what would you guys reccomend for a non farty muffler?

obviously there is the dynomax super turbo, but is that a performance muffler at all?

and i never thoght about the mount height being a factor... i want this to be tucked underneath the car, not sticking out...

I'm not sure how it is with HB's but it should fit nicely. 6" is not that big. It comes with a silencer and the seller says it has a "Solid Throaty Tone" I don't think it's gonna be a fart can.

this is a shot of the dynomax super turbo. It's 9 1/2 wide, 4 3/8 high. If you notice the bulges on either side of the tip when I measured from outside edge to outside edge it was 6", so that muffler is 6" in diameter just draw a circle using the outside edges of the bulges as the edge of the circle and you'll see that it goes about an inch above & below the dynomax height. If you are any good at visualization you can get an idea of what the muffler will look like.
