    77 Accord CVCC Head Bolts

So....Unfortunately one of my head bolts was sheered off. Finding appropriate bits has turned into a small fiasco. Anyone know where to hunt a few of these down? ARP makes nothing over 100mm. I actually only need one.

    Apparently 9 of them are
    m10 1.25 117mm

    And 1 is
    m10 1.25 102mm

    I think I need the 117.

According to another thread the civic cvcc ones wont work.

    Thanks

Convert it to ARP studs and you won't have this problem again. Here's the part list I used:

    AM5.000-1B - Head Studs
    300-8344 - 12pt Nut
    200-8519 - washer

Jegs should have the parts. Warning this is going to be $100+ worth of bolts here.

Do those ARP part numbers work for a '78 1.2L (non CVCC)?

Did you not just buy the D16 kit? I think they are still around $100.

Re: 77 Accord CVCC Head Bolts

I couldn't find the kit so I bought all the parts separate on Jegs. This is the same part numbers as the Civic kit. One bolt is a little long due the mounting hole on the head being deep but it clears just fine when the head is installed. After doing studs on this car I don't think I'd ever build another engine without studs. Install is easy and they are super durable.

This looks like a 1G Civic with a 1.2L engine? Is it right side drive?

Yeah sorry I guess I didn't specify, '78 Civic 4 speed. Unfortunately no, it's wrong-side drive. Haven't had any experiences finding right side drive cars here in the states besides one sighting of a 2nd gen Subapoo in the junkyard

There was an S600 shell floating around Portland for a long time and even that was still left side drive. I don't think any right side drive early Honda made it here and if they did they're owned by a collector or dead by now.

Aha! That's what I figured. Take measurements of your current head bolts, and send them to ARP. They are the ones who gave me the cross reference. They will need bolt size, thread pitch, total length, and length of the threads. If you give them as much detail about the bolts as possible, they're really quick to set you up with a match!
