Wink Awwwww Yeahh 87 LX 46k original miles

So I am new to the 3geez scene coming straight outta Hampton Roads, VA. Stumbled across this 87 LX with 46k original miles and had to buy it. It's so wild, it would be like going back in time and purchasing a brand new 80s car. Everything works perfectly on her, and the engine purs like a little kitty after drinking warm milk. Going to throw on 20% tint all the way around and put some 15" Enkei Classic 92s gold on it. Other than that I'll keep it stock until I feel the engine is losing it's umphhh. Then all the all out build will commence. Very fortunate to have this find and very excited to participate in a new forum. I'll update pics and other personal stuff soon.

    Pics coming soon

    Welcome aboard!

Very clean car. It appears the front end was replaced with an 88-89 version at some point in it's life.

Actually damn good eye, I just looked them both up. Huh that's weird, idk what the deal is with that then. I see the 87 should have more of a black plastic with a dip in the middle of the grille, instead of it being all the way flat with paint. I wonder if it's possible that could have been done in transition periods for the car or options from the dealer.

Great buy! I didn't think any were left in such a good state.

You may be right about the transition period as I am not certain why someone would go to the trouble of changing the front like that.. perhaps it was just at the very end of 87.

    Hello TommyBoy00

    I Like It.
I also live in Hampton Roads. home Norfolk and work in Chesapeake. I have (3) 89 LXIs, present restoring one bought a few months back in an online Auction. It's red and will be out fitted with Fit 16" wheel once painted. You might have pasted me in the 2 door "Mint89"

From two above by "derolph". How can you have an 88 lXi Coupe? I'm I confused? My understanding is the the LXi Coupe was only sold for the 89 market. It was as I understand the last of the 3rd gen. Accords that were made. The first ones assembled in Ohio and the last of that gen. as a Coupe. In other words only the 89 was produced as a two door coupe. Please someone help me here! If I am correct, then the 89 Coupe was the last of the Accord's with flip up headlights and the first Accord Coupe's ever made. Again please help here. I have one and don't want to be telling friends lies!

Yeah I really think it's correct after looking it over more, not an expert but know a lot about cars. The car was garage kept in New York and then this Jamaican guy bought it in my area, only put 2k miles on it and wanted to sell . Love your hatch too dude, looks great!

I'm in Chesapeake area too. That's awesome, we'll have to get up soon. It's funny that I actually own a car now that I don't have to work on. Everything is perfect on it.

Craigslist is the way I "stumble across" these things haha. Got really lucky with this, everyone that sees it is in disbelief.

They made coupes in 1988 and 1989.

You scored a really clean car. Chances are the front was replaced early in its life after a parking lot incident. No worries about it, just something that isn't original to the car. Honda wasn't a company that would mix and match parts between years.

From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_...2.80.931989.29, "Throughout the different markets, in addition to the sedan model the Accord was available with different bodystyles which included a three-door hatchback, a three-door shooting-brake called Accord Aerodeck, and a two-door coupé which was added in 1987 for the 1988 model year. The three-door hatchback was not available outside of US and Canada, where the Aerodeck was not marketed. The coupé, which was built exclusively in Honda's Marysville, Ohio factory, was "reverse exported" back to Japan where it was known as the US-Coupé CA6."

Thanks for that info. Mine was built in Ohio in 1988 as a 89 model. Bought it in Oct. 88. I always thought it was a one year only model. Busted my bubble did you!

You're thinking of the SE-i. It as an '89-only model.

No I was thinking of the LXi Coupe. Just like yours! Here I thought it was a 89 only on the coupe. Now I understand there is a 88 Coupe LXi. Busted.

Yeah I'm so stoked I found it. I'm sure something just like you stated did happen to it at one time, because nothing else has been changed. Like front suspension wise, so it's all good just gives it a little character.

Very nice. As for the frt, and as quoted previously cars built in the last few months of the year are usually of the next Model year specification/design anyway. (But I don't know the other year variations well enough so if the rest is of earlier design, it is unusual).
