    alignment

I lowered my car 1.5" with Eibach Sportlines this summer. I went to get it aligned and they said I needed new ball joints. I only just got my shit together and put that in. I took it back and now they say they can't align it because the car has no caster adjuastment. I was told that if I only lowered it 1.5" that caster wouldn't be a problem. Now is this shop just being anal or is it impossible to get the car aligned now that it is lowered without buying a camber kit. Thanks for any advice.

well... ...the little bit that you're camber might be off due to the lowering cannot be completely corrected without a camber kit. However, with that little of a drop, you should still be in good shape b/c the camber will be off only a miniscule amount. That's nothing to worry about at all. As far as allignment, they should still be able to correct that. Just make sure that you explain to them that you realize that the camber "may" still be off, but they should be able to completely correct any toe/caster issues as needed.

Actaully, a good cheap, easy fix for the front (see'in as you gotta replace your ball joints anyway) would be to instead of buying Accord upper ctrl. arms w/bj's, just pick up a set of 84-87's. With those and a few washers, tadda... ...now you have a camber kit for the front. Quick, easy, painless. and just as much as the stock replacements.

The caster is adjustable is our cars. Show them the nuts on the radius rods and they should understand.

Preferred settings and range from my last alignment at the Honda dealer:
    FRONT
    Toe: 0.00 +/- 0.04
    Caster: 0.50 +/- 1.00
    Camber: 0.00 +/- 1.00

    REAR
    Toe: 0.00 +/-0.03
    Camber: 0.00 +/-1.00

I like setting the caster a little higher (~1.00+) to increase the steering's tendancy to self-center.
