Yeah kumho 712's are great, go for it. My next tire is either going to me their new MX tire or Falken Anenis sports.

What ever you do, do not get rims with less than 40mm offset. 42mm,43mm and 45mm are fine to.

If you drive on roads that you frequently comment to yourself, "man they suck", I would not recommend 17".

    Recommended tire sizes are

    195/55-15, 205/50-15, 205/45-16, 205/40-17

Your stock rims weigh 16-18lbs, I wouldn't go heavier than that, lighter is better.

I thought the same for 17's and the tires would be expensive but i got my 17's for $990 shipped and the tires were like $103 Nitto Nt-555 free shipping from www.tirerack.com which was a lot less than expected. I had 16's before and they were not bad but stick to 16+ because 15's look small in out wheel wells. Oh i got the rims from www.wheelmax.com

MY choice have always been 16" rims. I am not a big fan of bigger rims, but i do like a dcent amount of tirewall cause of the roads i drive on. They are not bad, but i travel once in a while and who knows what kinda shitty road i might come across. Besides, even 15" rims would be awsome, but i jus tlike a lil more metal. thats of course my opinion and i wish we could put a lil more bigger tires in our buggies and not worry about the speedo. oh well, that stinks anywayz.

ok, here's what I could come up with.....

...personally, I love the look of 17's on a slammed 3G, but it's not that practical for any performance related "fun". I love the 15's b/c of low cost and the "just right" amount of tire to have some real fun with. 16's are a happy medium. They still provide that "low-pro" look on the 3G and still have a good amount of tire which will allow you to take full advantage of a nice suspension setup.

    Check it out....

Here's my car with 15's and sittin at stock ride height:

Here's my car with 15's slammed:

...and here's (hopefully he doesn't mind my "borrowing" his pic) Justin's car with a set of 16" ADR's sittin pretty with what looks like around a 2.5 drop:

PS.... Jim, only b/c I feel the urge, I've gott'a say it again. I really liked your car, and that pic shows it off VERY well.

i'm not a fan of huge wheels because i like the look of some sidewall. i hate to use these pictures but they are the only ones i have for the time being. they show the 15s with 205/50/15s and a 1 1/2" drop pretty good. i really have to get some good new pictures soon.

Excellent choice! But can I make a suggestion to go with 205/50/15 rather then 195/55/15 for the tire size. IMO you feel a little more stable on the road as there's more surface contact. Not to mention that, but due to the +sized width there's more tire overhang which will aid in protecting the rims from accidental curbing, etc.

Just IMO though. Jim is the real brain in this section.

no way. mine have never rubbed and my car is dropped 1 1/2". i think that the 195/55/15s will actually have a little more sidewall anyway to promote rubbing if either will. don't worry, no 15 will rub unless your car is really on the ground. Jim will clear up everything I just said, or at least correct it.

if u have a 205/50 on a 16 inch rim... the wheel will be tall...and if you have a 205/50 on a 15 inch rim... it will be just right... i dont get ur question tho... i guess its time for u to sleep!

Travis, I think he meant specifically on 15's.

Mike, like Grant said, you shouldn't have any rubbing issues at all with this tire on a 15" wheel. The only time I could see the possibility of rubbing with this tire is if you're running a wheel with an offset like 35 or 38mm. But then in that case, you'll rub with the 195/55's also. If it helps, I've been sitting on the same setup (15's with 205/50's) for the past two years and until I lowered my car, regardless of how much weight I had in it, i didn't get even so much as one rub. And only b/c the offset is probably around a 38mm, I've noticed only a tid bit of rubbing with the rear only with 4 full sized people in it (but that's only since I lowered the snot out of it.)

Hope it helps. Jim, if there's something I missed, or any mis-info that I gave, please correct me.
    -Mark D.

Ok here I get to grand stand a bit. Your concern is the very reason I go to great pains to ALWAYS talk about the requirement for what offsets you buy. As long as you've made sure that the rim is within the offset range I have specified, they will not rub. They will not rub when the car is running without a load, or full of people and cargo and they will not rub even if your on the bump stops. This is true for all the wheel and tire size's that I talk about and recommend. Nore is rolling the fender ever a requirment. WHY would anyone WANT to willingly roll fenders, unless they had to, to correct a mistake. I do not lead people on the path of mistakes
