    ???Addco or S/T???

I was thinking about getting some front and rear sway bars and i noticed that the Addco were considerably cheaper than the S/T sway bars. From what i remember they are the same diameter and same material. What is the difference in price? What are the differences in the products? Has anyone tried both, likes/dislikes? Any and all comments welcome! Thnx

I have addco bars on my corolla. They arn't bad quality but addco is a pain in the ass to deal with. If they don't have the bars in stock they wont make more untill they have an order for five. Also they bent my front bar wrong and woudln't make a replacement for it untill they got four more orders. Needless to say that 87 corollas aren't that popular to mod and its been over 2 years with out the replacement. I gave up and went with a diferent company.

I have the S/T front and rear sway bars on my car. I like them but as Jim said the rear bar may not be big enought depending on the spring rate of the rear springs you have. Which i would like a bigger rear bar.

Actually addco's current order requirement is that 10 bars must be on backorder before they will do a production run. The lady on the phone first told me 5, but when I had her double check she corrected herself after speaking with her boss and said their would have to be 10 on backorder for them to make anymore.

    REAR BAR Addco Vs. S/T

The Addco rear bar is thicker than the S/T bar 3/4" Vs. 5/8" ( rear addco bar is 1/8" thicker than the S/T rear bar). That is a GOOD thing. BUT!!!,......you can't get one, I tried. No one has one and right now addco has 1 rear bar one backorder, they won't be getting 10 orders anytime soon.

You can still get a bar like it or maybe a litttle thicker still, say 7/8" Send a complete stock rear sway bar and all the mounting hardware to www.sanerperffab.com/products.htm for $180 they will copy your stock sway bar to whatever size you like and it will come with urathane bushings. I've read a couple post's from the scca forums where guys used them and they had good things to say about their work.

It kinda doesn't matter since you can't get the rear bar from addco right now, read my post above. Besides the addco's are more expensive than the S/T bars. The Addco's are only sold as a front bar or a rear bar, whereas you can get the S/T bars as a set.
Cheapest place I've seen the addco's was shox.com for $129 each. So $260 for a set. You can get the S/T set for around $219/$229 from Nopi.com If someone is selling the front AND rear addco's I'd like to know who and if they have a rear bar on their shelf in their own wherehouse. If they say they have to order it from addco, the rear bar does not exist.

BTW it's pointless to pay money for the addco front bar since it's the same or increadibly close to the stock front bar in size.

Hey Jim, any word of turn-around time on getting one made; from time of placing order to them shipping the product out?

I think I'm gonna go knocking on their door for a rear bar. You mention that you've talked to many SCCA members about the bars... ...is there a suggested diameter that I should have made for my application? 1" ?
