quick question - i got a crappy cd player for xmas that i'm gonna get installed this weekend. my current tape/radio player is 35x4, the new cd player is 15x4. will there be a drastic difference in sound once the cd player is installed?

YES!!!! under-powering your speakers is almost worse than over-powering them!! you will need an amp for it. i know they make some of those high power decks, yours is probably one of them. what brand is it? and what model?

its a qwestar. i'm not sure of the model, i'm too lazy to walk to my room to look. my mom got it on the day after thanksgiving when everything was real cheap. what kind of an amp are u talking about? like what kinda power ratings? i'm just gonna use it to power my speakers so i don't need anything big. i don't wanna spend very much money on an amp, cuz i could get a decent cd player that puts out more power for $100.

shit, i hope not. i don't know what to do. i guess i'm just gonna have to get it installed and then see what happens. if i dont like it, then i guess i'll buy a new deck. i woudn't mind tryin to get an amp, but i'm clueless about them. i don't know the first thing about hooking one up. fuck, now i'm just all confused.

i'm really confused now. i'm debating over whether to just go out and buya new cd player, or get the one i have installed. i looked up user reviews of the player i have and it's pretty shitty. i don't know if i wanna deal with that b/c my parents got the deck for me or xmas, so they are paying to get it installed, but if i got new one installed after i already had the 1st one put in i would have to pay or it. i wouldn't mind going out and spending $100 on a new deck, but thats kinda a lot of money for me. i would definately do it if i could sell the one my parents got me. i'm gonna sleep on this. goodnight
