    Shifting the RPM.

Okay I can't stand it anymore!
Racing my car on the track and streets, I find that I hit the rev limiter too hard. Even when I'm at the 7200 redline I still feeling the car pulling hard (the tach is hooked up to the MSD)...I complained to the guys at my garage, they drove it and told me I'm right that I should shift the limiter up.
I did. I used the 8000rpm chip. well now the car runs out of breath at around 7600rpm but it actually hits the limiter. It scary though because the engine screams like it's crazy. The garage told me it's cool because when they gave me the "1/2 race build", they replaced and modified the valve train when they did the headwork but I don't know I never did rods. They also mentioned getting a FPR to assist the fuel pump and engine demands. I trust them because they really know what they're doing. The extra power does feel good though. I'm keeping the 8000 chip but I keeping the rpm to 7000 or so. I carried the car to 7000rpm in 4th gear once and it felt good. I got another engine at home so I guess I'll check the limits of this build up.
This car frightens me...I just love it.

Ps...we got a dyno down here now.

Sounds nice and cant wait to see the dyno run. I cant wait to experience the motor when i do it this spring. Did you ever upgrade the fuel pump itself and the injectors?

I mentioned before that the old garage I had burnt out my ECU and harness...I couldn't find a replacemen so I was left with an EFI engine using a weber 38/38 rachet. It wasn't until I met my new "tuning family" that I got my car really hooked up....Actually they laugh at me because I drive a 14 yr old car that I claim to be fast...lol. That's until they take it for a spin themselves. I really need some track and dyno numbers though.
In my budget racer, I use a fuel pump from a 280ZX. It's okay for now I guess but I want to upgrade whenever I can.

If you're thinking about fuel system upgrades you might want to read this. https://www.3geez.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11494. The holley pump and regulator will be more then enough to keep you fueled. Best thing to do would be to put a pressure gague on there and make sure the pump you're using now can keep the pressure up. If it can and it doesn't act like its running out of fuel then I wouldn't worry too much.

Do you have the stock rods and in that thing? I'd be a little worried about taking it to 8000 if so. At the very least get some arp rod bolts in there. Are those type r pistons lighter then the stock ones?

That combo does look right. I can't say that I hammer the car everyday but on weekends I definitely do. I have a back up B20A sitting at home, but I plan on putting in some H23 connecting rods from Crower in the future...oh yeah I have a bit more plans for the ride...mmmhhmmm

They parts store are importing them direct from Japan. They're a lot down here "kicking dog" all over the place, but with cut harnesses and no ECU and in awfuk condition. Back then when most people realised that they weren't vtec they gave up on them altogether....

The pump and regualtor should be availabe at just about any performance shop. Don't forget to take the old pump out of your pickup and replace it with a tube.

hahahaha...I highly doubt that...that's over 200hp at the flywheel. Thats Justin's territory. I'm shooting for 200 overall....I can tell you that's really a hard number to pull off...you gotta really dig into your pockets to get that to happen. I believe right no I probably run about 180-190...and that's wishful thinking. They're still setting up the dyno so I'm hoping to be in the first bunch there and trust me that line is long.
