    Re: REMOVING VACUUM LINES DISCUSSION

ok time to get to work again-its been too long,my still dont idle when the AC is on so I am gonna try and get it to work again, which solenoid is it that I need to connect to the A/C boost diaphragm-theres the small one in the pic and the one that has #30/32 lines I belive connected to it(i belive the bottom one says nippon denso on it so I thought it was that one)but it also has a small white diaphragm connected to the solenoid so thats what threw me off

I was playing around with the lines to see if I could get it to work

but which line needs to be connected the left or the right one on the diaphragm?

The top port goes to the inner diaphragm I believe. The bottom port connects to a manifold vacuum source.

    Re: REMOVING VACUUM LINES DISCUSSION

Not sure. I think it's the one you took off.

Did you connect manifold vacuum to the lower port on the solenoid, and the A/C diaphragm to the top port?

Is the screw on the diaphragm set properly... the A/C idle boost linkage has very limited movement so you wont notice a dramatic change in idle.

I tried using my brake bleeding tool on the diaprhagm and it wont even move-I think the spring inside might be toast from being out of use for so long-and yeah it has very little movement

    Re: REMOVING VACUUM LINES DISCUSSION

OK a couple Vac line questions:
    1. Do I have to keep the vac line #17?
    2.What #17's its purpose?
    3. The "bleeders" in the bottom of the stock air box, I have 1 of them in my custom air box, can I just hook #17 up to that?
4.The vac source on the back of the intake manifold, there is 3 lines running to the one port, if i only use 2 cant i just hook them up to each port on it instead of blocking it off?
    5. Do I have to phiscally take the float bowl off the carb?

    Thanks, Matt

    Re: REMOVING VACUUM LINES DISCUSSION

nope if you don't have to stock air box remove all of the air bleeds... #17 just connects to the air box without air bleeds it's the vent for the thermovalves.

the vacuum source at the rear of the intake manifold is the strongest.
Thats why when you remove all the vacuum line you use the rear port to power #14, #2, #25 (if you want), etc.

Why do you want to remove the float bowl?

The fuel vapor line from the gas tank goes through the firewall on the drivers side right? If so, it connects straight to the carb and a line runs off the (I think back, im not at the car) carb to the cannister. Do I plug the 2 ports on the carb, it wasnt disscussed in the pictures.

    Thanks, Matt

you talking about the two small vacuum ports on the back of the carb side by side or the larger one? the smaller ones you could probably get away with not plugging and leave them open, but i capped them anyway along with larger port above them. i didnt find them pulling vacuum unplugged, but would recommend capping them.

No the red fuel line that us used to carry fumes to the carb on start up.

If you remove the charcoal cannister and the peices operating it then you plug the port on the carb. The how to does say to plug it... you have to scroll down to the bottom.

    Re: Woohoo!! Somebody Stop Me!!!!!!

Recently removed vac lines, after some tuning she was running better then before. Still some high idol and running way rich. Drove it to my dad inlaws (3miles from home) for help adjusting.
Before we began to adjust air mixture it was setting for about 2 hours.....
Came out and it would not idol... start then immediately die.
Went to unplug ecu and try but it was already unplugged. Plugged it in and it ran immaculately, let run for 10-15 shut it off for dinner 30 mins later no start.... tried today with ecu unplugged and plugged still no start..... well it would start then die? Any clues on whats up?
