    Clutch Masters or Centerforce??

Hey guys, I think i'm gonna just end up gettin a new clutch cause i'm sick of it slippin all the time. Question is, Which clutch kit should i get, The CenterForce Dual Friction kit, or the Clutch Masters Stage 1 kit? I've heard both are good but what would you guys recommend? I like to drive and want something that grabs really good and strong when shifting.
    Thanks alot,

    Chris

get a stage 2... they are made with Kevlar so they last way longer
they have the same strength as a stage 1

Well i was readin around on other threads and read on another one that the stage 2 is pretty strong and that it fucked up someones transmission like a couple people i think. Will it fuck mine up b/c i sure as hell can't afford to replace that.

From what i have read about the centerforce clutches pertaining to our generation cars is that they suck. I have not heard one good comment about them but other applications were ok. I personally have used ACT and i think it was a stage one or two and i would buy it again just a stage above what i bought.

So a Stage 1 or 2 ACT? I've heard nothin but good about ACT so i might go in on it. I don't race alot but i like the feeling of a good strong clutch. So kevlar is the only difference between the Stage 1 and 2 right? It ain't gonna f*ck up my tranny will it bein to strong in all?

    Thanks alot,

    Chris

Im thinking mine is a stage one so i would get a stage 2 myself. Stage one is a tad bit better than stock for light mods but i think a stage 2 would be good for all the basic bolt ons.

I had an ACT on my A20 and it was great. You'll never have the power with an A20 to mess it up. There's no need for a stage 2 clutch unless you like to brag about parts.

to be honest I have heard nothing but bad from both center force and clutch master- to me your best bet would be the stage 2 from act- I found it for 270 shipped from landspeed racing- I called everywhere- if you want something to last- pay the extra hundred or so and go with the act
mods-4th gen extreme kit-3rd 3en kaminar sides, matrix short ram air, ADR 17" rims- ACT stage 2 clutch- NGK 8mm wires- Denso irridium plugs-accell 5.25 tv-dvd- 3 blaupunkt over drive 12's with clarion power amps-and kenwood exceleon components- soon to be dc sports header

get the 2... its the same clamp force as a 0ne... but it last alot longer... perfect for slipping it on the street and shit... not like racing where you rev it and dump... the stage 2 holds up...

I had 3 centerforce clutches. The first one they warentied because it was only in the car for about 2 months after the break in period I took it to the track and blew it up. The rubber vibration dampners completly broke out of the disk. I upgraded to the dual friction nd it lasted for about 6 months and did the same thing but I was runnibg slicks on the car. I bought a clutchmasters With a srung hub and it actually had real springs insted of rubber pieces and I've had it in my car for 5 yrs. I took it out once when I blew up my diff. and replaced the clutch the presure plate was still good. Clutch was worn and ready to be replaced.
Clutchmasters is A++++ in my book...

yes i have the same stage 1 ACT clutch. ive had it for 6 months and Wickedaccord had it for 4 before he sold it to me. this thing is bad ass. i can say that this clutch is great. i rip it everytime im in my car and it holds up like a champ. trannys still good. the only thing i am worried about is my failing moter mounts due to the kick ass grab this clutch creates. please by all means buy a stage 1 from ACT. spend the extra dough you wont be disappointed. you say youve heard nothing but good things from real owners. well lets weigh the differences.

    ACT= all good things

Clutchmasters= mostly good things. but some bad.

Centerforce= do i even have to explain myself.

how can you go wrong with a ACT?

i covered why the centerforce clutch fails so oftend in a post a while back. has to do with machining tolerance in the flywheel step edge for the pressure plate.

i dont need ot go there again/
