stock a20a3 e2q5 rpm relative to speed

I have a rebuilt a20a3 with the stock transmission and my tach isn't always reliable at high rpm's. Does anybody know the rpm relative to speed and gear for these transmissions? E.g. 60 mph at ~4500 rpm in 3rd gear. I'm mainly interested in second and third gear.

I like to double clutch down two gears sometimes and I need an accurate tach to really get to know my car. It took me about 25,000 miles on my previous car to master my gearbox( i taught myself how to drive stick on it). I've only driven about 8,000 miles on this car, but my clutch, gears, shifter, and tach are a lot different on this car. I don't know who rebuilt my engine or what they did to it, but in first gear my car pulls hard all the way to fuel cut(I've only hit fuel cut once.) I'm not sure if this typical of an a20a3 because my previous car was an anemic d16y7 with bad compression in one cylinder. But... if anybody knows the rpm relative to speed and gear in an 88 lxi stock transmission, please post what you know in this thread!

    Gear Ratio Calculator

Might help you little if you can use google to find all the numbers to plug in.

3rd at the fuel cut is like 83 mph off the top of my head.

Oddly I have a 2011 Challenger that the gears splits are just about the same for the first 4 gears.

I'ved tried those online calculators and they've never been accurate for me. Also, I think I could hit 90 before fuel cut in third

Ok I'll try to test out all gears tomorrow I probably won't go above 5.5 with my engine being a little on the weaker side. The tie size I'm using on my lowered hatch is 195 60R15 H88 and they compliment the original body of the car.

There are online calculators for this where you enter your tire size, gear ratios, diff ratio and it gives you the figures you want. Why not use those instead of having someone blow up an engine, get arrested or both?

Thought I'd mention that a portable GPS navigation device will give you very accurate speed readings, although perhaps not during rapid acceleration or deceleration since the device needs to recalculate your speed and therefore may be a bit delayed in reporting speed during rapid changes. I've learned, from using my GPS, that my speedometer reads about 2 mph faster than my actual speed when I'm driving at highway speeds.

I tickle the redline pretty often and my car doesn't seem to mind at all. My car seems to make the most power from 5000-6?00..that also happens to be where my tach is the least accurate. It pulls all the way to fuel cut which is at 6600-6800(?). If you don't rev it up every now and then, you don't know what you're missing. Speed limits and noise ordinances be damned. Just find an empty stretch of road and test things out, it doesn't have to be anything "illegal". If a man hits fuel cut in the forest and nobody is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

I guess I'll have to fill out the chart myself. Like I said before, those online calculators haven't been accurate for me, maybe I don't know how to use them

I say hell yes to your comment and do the same thing myself, around 4500-5500rpm is where the stock A20A3 likes to show it's devilish side. But I also like to drift around in and around the roads I find driving as a delivery driver. Anyhow I've got an orientation to go to tomorrow and will jot down this chart and test for you when I have available time.

Re: stock a20a3 e2q5 rpm relative to speed

    1st gear ~6500 rpm : ~35 mph
    2nd gear 6800 rpm= ~59 mph
    3rd gear 6800 rpm = ~91 mph

I tested it out by filming with my phone taped next to the steering wheel today. I'll try to figure out the rest of the figures when I can watch the videos on a computer. The tach bounces a lot, but I know the upper limits because it hit fuel cut. My tires are the stock size, 195/60/14

I've noticed that 1st and 2nd provide steady acceleration, but the shift from 2nd to third is way too long and 3rd doesn't accelerate as quickly. I'm know this is partially the gearing and partially
the drag on the car at higher speeds..I
know people put integra gears in our
    transmissions for better acceleration, but
really, my only problem is third gear. 1st
and 2nd are fine by me. I'm also fine
with 5th and 4th. 3rd is just too far from second
