I'm gettin a new amp to run my fosgates in the back, and the amp is a sony 1000 watt, do i have to worry about my battery and it being drained faster than the alternator can charge it? or is it all good?:pimp:

if you run an optima battery and beef up your engine to chassis cable and your alternator to battery cable you should be ok. I was running 1300w and I needed a rewound alt putting out 140 amps in order to keep the stock battery. Also if you have a little dimming, you can also use a 1 farad cap. If you upgraded to a bigger amp id go for an alternator upgrade, but for now you should be ok.

Out of all my systems the only problem i have had is with the lights dimming. I do have an optima battery but was fine before and is great to have now but i would think you can get away with only a cap. I have one but its not installed yet cause the car is away for the rest of the winter hopefully.

I had major dimming happening everytime my subs hit with my old system (2 Sony 12" X-Plod, Kenwood 1000W amp). When i upgraded to the memphis system i just installed a 2 farad cap...$160 and i have had NO problem with any of my lights.

or you could save a little money and get yourself a couple small marine batteries and put them back with your amp- you can use them just like a cap-may not look as good as a cap but will save you money- look at competitors with huge systems- batteries are used more compaired to caps
mods-4th gen extreme kit-3rd 3en kaminar sides, matrix short ram air, ADR 17" rims- ACT stage 2 clutch- NGK 8mm wires- Denso irridium plugs-accell 5.25 tv-dvd- 3 blaupunkt over drive 12's with clarion power amps-and kenwood exceleon components- soon to be dc sports header

id just get the cap before you get into more batteries, because if you do that youll almost certainly need a bigger alt. Also batteries become a resistive load once the car is on and your current output suffers because it has to keep those batteries charged too so its usually not the hot set up for a daily driver, usually just huge comp vehicles, which usually have multiple alts anyways
