The Accord is down for a minute. I like to thank Seth witte AKA blocks for getting me the correct cam Tower. Got the cam Tower swapped out but in the 1500 mile run it damage my distributor key. So I decided to make my own distributor plate until I can get another key. I went and got my timing belt and water pump swapped out along with the new can Tower.

Bad luck man,but you'll get it fixed. What happened to the camtower ? Camshaft still ok ? So you're running another type of distributor right now ? The one you had before obd swap ? New timing and waterpump is a pro though
You still manage to find parts,a job on it's one.

    Auke.

The cam Tower I had on there was from a carbureted Accord and it didn't hold the distributor plate flush or level and that damage my custom distributor key . Camshaft fine. I'm making a plate and modifying a OBD1 distributor to run until I can get another key. if you search hard enough you can find good parts for cheap. I got the OEM timing belt for $17 on eBay it's a 1985 Honda Accord OEM timing belt. And the OEM water pump was $22

I agree, fairly common parts are all over the place. My problem with E-bay is that most of the time the shipping -costs equal or even double the cost of the part, living in Holland. But more specific engineparts are getting harder and harder to get, especially if there is no junkyard around with your type Honda. Right now i cannot find an oem 2 gen. dual-tip muffler (or anything close) in the world. Ordered a 3gen.muffler and hope to make it fit when and if it arrives..

Can't you weld a drop onto the camkey and reshape it ?

    Auke.

I forgot you were overseas but I can imagine it's a pain in the ass to get parts. I thought about welding it but the way the material just chipped away I don't think that's something I could trust going under boost

I decided to go ahead and remove the power steering pump and lines and loop the rack to a reservoir on the firewall. I know that's not the correct way to do it.other options would be to try to find one overseas manual rack with the subframe or try to modify one from a second generation Honda Accord. But that could be pricey so fuck it. Y.o.l.o.

Why remove it ? Are you going without powersteering ? Do you need the space or did something break ? Or was it that your rack and pinion went down a while ago and you can't fix it for now ? Bad experience with remanufactured ones it was ?

Yeah I've been having problems with the rack leaking and the belts been off it for a while now. It's an oem rack from a 89. Tired of dealing with the headaches of power steering leaks and it did clean up the engine bay a lot and a lot more room. It's going to be a turbo car soon so I'm really not too worried about it. But I'm in the process of finding another OEM rack

Btw,is it possible to install a new waterpump without having to open up and disassemble the distributiontimingbelt/parts ? So is just taking the old waterpump out and replacing it easily done ?

The first time I ever had to change my water pump I was a kid and I was able to take a pair of tin Snips and just cut part of the plastic away but many years later and many miles it warped the cover and end up getting tore up and eat out by the pulley. I end up getting the new cover . So yes if you want to keep the cover it hides like two bolts of the water pump other than that it's taking the pulley and belt off

Sure i want to keep the cover..it's there for a reason. Just did the timingbelt last year (sigh) with a mate who has a lift,i know we had to lift the engine then, not sure if that was for just taking off the cover. Believe it was to reach the crankshaftpulleybolt. Well,i guess i just go and see what it takes. Believe my waterpump it starting to fail,or it is the dynamo next to it,starting to hear a very soft squeeling sound, like a bearing going bad or something but i cant make out which one it is. Maybe a bit further down the road it will be more obvious.

I don't know about the preludes but I just turned the wheel all the way to the left plenty of room to get to the lower crankshaft bolt. No lift required

Well,at the Prelude you have to take the wheel off, then there is a hole in the chassis, and you have to lift the engine a few centimeters to align the crankshaftpulleybolt to the hole so you can get to it. A bit of work, but there is no other way.I guess they learned by the time your Accord was made

Damn sounds like a pain in the ass.maybe you can put a jack under the oil pan and jack it up a little that has to be done to remove the side mount and take the belt out

I guess that would work with a piece of wood between jack and oilpan for even distribution of force.
