A short? I was having problems with my clock resetting when I was running 90/100W bulbs in my conversion headlights. When I switched to 55/60's the problem went away.
If you feel like the problem is with the clock I have one that I bought off eBay when I thought something was wrong with mine. It is in great condition and you can have it for what I paid, $10 plus shipping (another $2.50).
take off the clock ! you will see several wires coming to it ! using multimter you can determine teh ground one's and postive one's ! one of teh wires should be connected to power no matter teh car is off or on ! ( constant power ) i bet this one is broken ! or loose inside the harness ! i think it's color is red but i am not sure !
good luck !

Clock, want a free one?!?
But I bet your old clock is just fine, its the hot wire from the battery has a bad connection.

my car just started doing this, it dosent do it every time tho. It has been really cold here lately so that might have something to do with it, i guess. let me know if you figure out the problem
here you go from the service manual !
a pretty easy test !

mine kinda did the same thing but my fuse was blown it wouldn't hold time i would put in the right time like 2:00 an go inside an come out an it would say like 11:00 20 minutes later...... i even looked at the wires in the back before i realized it was the fuse..

How do you take the clock out?
There is a little frame thing around the clock. Just take that off by gently prying it out. You will see 2 phillips head screws. Just unscrew them and it should slide out.
mine did the same thing and i looked under the dash and noticed a blue/yellow strip wire that was broke.. thats all it tolk to fix mine.
