    Clutch giving out?

My clutch is tighted as much as you can tighten it... it catches right at the top. Does that mean that my clutch is wearing thin? It still grabs VERY well and I haven't felt it slip once...

You should have the clutch cable adjusted so that there is a little free play (.5 cm or so, as long as there is some) in the cable before the clutch pedal is depressed. I wouldn't mess with the clutch as long as it still grabs ok and your rear main seal is still good (mysterious oil leak between the engine and transmission means it's not).

it means your rear main seal is bad. you need to remove the transmission and flywheel to change it. once you remove the trans it is pretty easy to replace. once you have the trans off you should go ahead and replace the clutch and resurface the flywheel.

You should replace the seal when changing the clutch, even if it isnt leaking.

It's nothing severe. It can wait until I get a clutch.

is it bad if the clutch catches high? mine catches just before the pedal is completely up from the floor. i had someone else turn my car around and he thought it wasn't in gear because it catches so high. it doesn't slip. im also a victim of a burnt up 5th gear.
one of my 88 lx's is up for parts. good engine and transmission. pretty much everything is there. the fenders and hood are bad but other than that it's pretty good.

RIP my beutiful 5g coupe. May the villans rot in hell!

you could try and add some washers under the adjusting nut.
