    Question 89 accord b16a engine/transmission/computer swap

I have an 89 Accord, and im looking for the best b16a engine/tranny/compter combo to swap in. Is the b16a the best engine to swap in or is there a better engine to use? Where is the best place to get that combo for my car?

The 1st Gen B16 is the easiest to swap. 2nd gen you will run into problems.

B18 is a more powerfull motor but will run into problems as well.

When is say problems, i mean OBD incompatability wiring issues. Transmission will also be a problem because newer gens have hydro trannies.

This is the less complicated swap and cheapest as well.

    1st Gen B16
    Cable tranny
    PR3 or PWO ecu

ok so that is the b16a1 not the b16a2 right? do the 1 and 2 represent different generations?

i assume this becayuse the b16a1 has cable tranny and b16a2 has hydro tranny! am i along the right lines here in my assumptions?

can you explain what pr3 and pwo ECU's are? are they stock ECUs from different cars? or chips or what?

I belive that the numbers after the B16 represent the generation, not 100% sure.

The PR3 and PWO are stock ecu's that came in the integra and civic of 1st generation B16

I believe the PR3 came in the Integra and the PWO came in the Civic. They just changed the "P" number to identify the chassis of the car that the ecu came from...

    gotta go.............lates.

    excellent! thanks for the reply!

i guess if i DO ever get tired of the a20a when i am "at that stage" of rebuilding... buying a b16 might be an option too... i guess it just depends on how fast i really want to go in this car!
