    89 accord only redlines..

I've been browsing around, trying to find a resolution to this issue so I wouldn't have to make a post about it, but haven't seemed to find any.

So, last year, I managed to blow the motor in my 89 Accord. It has the A20A1 with the carb in it. Over the course of a few months, I began taking it apart and rebuilding it. (Which has been completed with no bolts or pieces mysteriously laying around :p) But once I finally got to start it again, It jumped strait up to redline (I know nothing about carbs lol) and I started it a few times to see if it was just a fluke, but it still persisted. It might be something super simple and I'm just not catching it. It's now been sitting another 5 or 6 months and I need to get it running, but I have no idea what to do now. any help would be super greatly appreciated!

has the throttle cable got any slack in it at the carb end ?
With no load , it wont need the throttle open very far for the revs to take off

Not that I recall, no. Once I get out there again, I'll double check though.

needs just a wee bit of slack, enough so that when you touch the gas pedal nothing happens unless you give it a wee bit more push
