i would not get sony anything besides the headunit unless there is an external non-sony amp to back it up. Besides that, all sony shit sucks like n88accordLx-i said.

the main reason for sony head unit preference is cause it looks cool.

Hah... that shut the shit talking up. And he's right, I've seen/heard two xplode 10"s outbump two JL 10"s pushing the same wattage.

i had MTX 3000s before and they sucked... that aint sayin much. A friend of mine had 3 12 JL 12w3s with 1500 watts to em and he barely broke 143... that blows for 1500 watts, but they sounded nice.

i believe that this is one of the times where the setup is more important that the equipment... my dad ran 4 x-plod 6.5's off of a wal-mart pioneer HU and it sounded great, and even sounded fairly good up at the top of the powerband, near peak power... my main problem is the fact that you can get far better speakers for the same price, though... that's my only gripe

A lot of a system sounding good or not is how it's installed. If people take the extra effort and build their own boxes, and build them right, then you can make ANY sub sound great...

However, most people just toss them in pre-fab boxes and then bitch when it doesn't sound right...

But on the other hand, I know that some people prefer colored bass instead of clean bass (there was an experiment done a while back) so that could be the case...

But Sony products for car audio are generally not very good... their higher end HU's are excellent, but most of their amps/speakers/subs are of crappy build quality, crappy engineering and crappy power handling.

I have never had a problem with my deck! It's a Sony MP-70! From my expierence it all sounds the same! Great Sound and small cars just don't go together in my opinion! Also don't care much for others ppl taste in music! I say get whatever you want and you should be happy! If u buy cheap you are gonna get cheap sound!

I have Xplod all the way around, except for the stuff in the trunk, and I've got nothing but good things to say about my system. It does good on both high and low ends, and has plenty of bass, even without the sub setup that I have. I've never bothered to buy the really low end Sony, so maybe that sucks, but I really like my setup. Just my two cents...
