    Talking Swap almost done

    It's no B16 or B20...
Here is a pic of the a20a3 5-speed being converted to carb.
I'm also working on the exhaust in the background.

It's a mix between the JDM corners and 88-89 painted center lights.

I had no idea that front motor mount seperated into 2 parts... so i though i broke it when it popped out when lifting the motor.

heyt a20a1 are you doning the swap because the efi motor has better compression. well at least the 88-89 efi? what are your reasons for doing this. just curouis.

Well my motor died so I got a new one... it just happned to be EFI. it has a 5-speed and came with everything to keep it EFI but I decided for the sake of simplicity I would keep it carbed for now and reap whatever benifits from the higher compression.

Ok got the engine back it... i swapped in the water pump... alternator, starter, distributor, my wild regrind, the auto trans, I'm going to have to use my stock intake manifold, and header. Oh and the yellow valve cover is on. I'm also sticking in the giant Accel super coil.

Even though the regrind is in, I'm going to take it easy... I had a hell of a time getting the axles to pop back into the trans when dropping the engine. Fuck I'm tired... but I need to finish before tomorrow I have school real early. It's already 10:30pm... but if the car can run tonigh I will drive it.

    Update.
    2:00 Am
    ok intake manifold is on
I redid my B&M oil coolers for a super clean install
I stuck on the intkake manifold and weber
loosely bolted up the header and exhaust pipe

tomorrow I'll have to adjust the valves and finish puting in the wires... i can't seem to find the giant accel i had... I'm going to try and use my damaged MSD coil instead, if I have to I'll use the old accel.

then I'm adding all new fulids, after that I'll finish up hanging the exhaust... stick in the battery, spark plugs and plug wires, then adjust the timing. and go for a test dirve.

the carbs do got power. I woudl say loose your stock carb and get a Webber like mike did and carl did and a lot of the members here did. It would give u power and great throttle response. also, u could loose all the vaccum lines and have just two hooked up if i am not mistaken, assuming u dont have emission standards like Mike does. The stock carbs do have a problem with the choke after 14 years and its not worth repairing your stock carb.

So use the 300 bucks that u would use to get another car or what not and get a webber. this is purely considering that u lowered it, and got all kindsa mods on it.

    it wont start...
Maybe it's a dead battery... or a missing ground wire.
and i thing all my fuel evaporated cause the pump ain't picking up nothing, but I can hear the pump go on. maybe it is the battery and it's too weak to pick up the fuel.

yup..already noticing that.. my choke is sticking and doesn't seem to want to come off for the longest time...although the car has been well warmed and even driven around for 30 minutes..the choke is still on.. and finally, after quite some time..it will come off.

but im gettin my thermostat replaced tomorrow..so i will see if that helps any

    Yeah get a weber...

Ok the car started but extremely rough... then it died. also my exhaust pipe came apart... I had a slip connector on there so i could match the exhaust pipe up with the down pipe when i was hanging everything up, but i guess it wasn't a strong connection... i'll bust out the welder and fix it tomorrow.

don't you hate when you finally finish a project, and there's that moment of truth when you turn the key to see if everythings all good? and then everything's not all good. i hate that. good luck mike
