Hello everyone! I joined this forum as I am picking up a 1986 Honda Accord LX on Thursday morning, assuming it's still for sale.
The owner states it has sat for something like 9 years in a enclosed storage unit, and has all of 113,545 miles on it. The owner is asking $750 but they also say it's "negotiable". Now, i'm mechanically inclined but i'm not sure what to expect. The gas in the tank is bad, and if it's low enough i'll just top the tank off and throw sea foam in the tank. The owner has moved it to a empty lot next to the storage facility, and they say it runs very well and they put a new battery in it. They don't say much else about it. I'm in need of a car desperately as my daily driver is currently a RV, since my previous car dropped a transmission on the freeway in middle of nowhere.
The paint job looks very good for the age, a little fading on the hood. Nothing i'm too worried about. No rust at all. Interior looks immaculate, no rips or tears. Engine looks good, nothing jumps out as not being right anyway. Dash board looks like it has no cracks or anything.
So what do you guys think? I think at the price it's a steal. Of course i'll have to change coolant, oil, oil filter, fuel filter (probably when I first buy and again after a few tanks of good gas) and i'm going to check the timing belt as well as the tires to see the coniditon of those.
Here's the pictures I have:
