Exclamation Pic of Thermostat location - Over Heating Problem

Ok here is the prob. I have plenty of oil, and pretty sure coolent, but I wil be driving and the therm. will be in the middle, and then I wil turn a corner and it will shoot past the red mark, so I will stop and it will go back down to normal, and then go back up to almost over heating, and stay that way for a while, It doesn't shut off or smoke, so do you think maybe the guage is brokeż

I would check your coolant and replace your thermostat.

    It's right here...
It's inside actually. you'll have to unbolt the part the blue arrow is pointing to to get to the thermostat.

This is an LX-i thermostat housing...
the LX and DX housings are different... just to be safe make sure you get the right thermostat for your car based on engien code and or trim level (LX LXI DX)

Get the gasket as well. Themostate + gasket is about $10 at autozone.
