    Been Gone For A While

Well after my '87 Accord took a dump, it's sat. I've occasionally started it, but it's gone to crap. I'm holding onto it thinking I may get around to fixing it, but in almost eight years, I haven't. But I have had quite a few cool cars between that time.

I may have shown the '05 Subaru Legacy GT, but not sure. It's long gone and was hit head on by a drunk driver. The car was a rocket. Went 0-60 in 4.4 seconds. Had a Cobb Stage II tune and non restrictive exhaust. It was fun while it lasted from 07-09.

Next was my '01 BMW 740i. Last year for the E38. This was probably one of my favorites and I've long since wanted to replace it. It's also been wrecked. This was the fastest car of all of the ones I've had. Would reach 165 mph and had some of the best brakes that wouldn't fade out. Again fun while it lasted from 09-11. I still have the 19" wheels I had on it. Hoping some day to get another one to put them on.

After that I bought a '91 Mercedes 420SEL. The last year for the classic W126 body style. One I had always wanted. Last year the transmission went out and I couldn't find a replacement. If I decide to fix this car I'll be pulling the engine and having the heads worked on. The intake valve seals are leaking and it sometimes smokes. It also has some underlying rust and now needs a paint job where the clear coat has come off of the roof and trunk. Everything else works on it and is why I've kept it. But I just found a better replacement for it and am considering taking a look at it. Anyways here's my Mercedes.

Keep it HONDA. Or at least Asian.™

Re: Been Gone For A While

Last year I bought a '91 Lincoln Town Car. Never thought I'd be a Ford guy, but it feels right. This is probably the easiest and cheapest car I've had to maintain. I've done quite a bit to make this a confident daily driver. I have always loved this body style and found a really good one. It's probably the most comfortable car I've ever had. It's the best for road trips. It does have the best fuel mileage of my V8 cars. When it gets near the 200k mile mark, I plan to do the timing chains and components. Hopefully won't need it with the care I'm giving it. I really love the air suspension. I've made sure everything works with that. I plan to make a stainless steel grill for it out of 3/8 rod. Should be nice when I get that done. I plan to keep it otherwise original and may get it repainted at some point. For now it's pretty nice. One thing I've found is these cars don't look right without white wall tires. So I've made it a point to keep them.

This shows the actual color. I think it was only a 2-3 year color. Called Silver Rose. Has a hint of red in the silver.

Not sure if you can see the link but it's the led conversion. It shows the exterior lights. I've also done the interior lights. Used mostly Sylvania Zevo bulbs. You'd be sick to know how much I spend on everything. But it looks amazing at night.
