Ok, this whole thing is a BIG what if. So far it is flat out NOT possible. But I may be able to engineer a way around that. Today, I went to a junk yard and got lucky. All I was their for was to see if they had a donor car for me to grab a single front and single rear strut from a 92+ civic or a 94+ integra. I had no tools on me, I was just looking. I got lucky cause someone had pulled the struts off of a 94 civic and they were just sitting in the trunk of the car, and the front still had the pinch fork on it. I just smiled and left with them. Any way's, here the deal. The front civic/teg strut has a longer body and it's minimum piston rod travel is to tall. Both a very bad things. Here's how I may be able to get past that.
1. Find out how much shorter the KYB AGX and Koni Sport civic/teg struts are. Specifically the body and the minimum piston rod travel length.
2. I need someone to measure how much distance their is on the front, between the very botton of the strut when it's sitting in the pinch fork, to the top of the drive axle below it. I need a exact measurement.
3. The civic/teg front sturt is much fatter than the accord strut where it goes into the pinch fork. I need to open up one of my accord pinch forks on a vise, and make sure the pinch fork bolt will still screw in to pinch the strut and secure it. Btw, I cannot just use the civics damper fork.
Unfortuneately, theirs a enormous differance between the accord rear struts and the civic/teg rear struts.
When both rear struts (accord and the civic) have their piston rods fully extended out of the strut body and measuring from the top of the piston rod to the middle of the bottom strut mounting bolt
Accord rear strut 25"
Civic rear strut 21 5/8"
When you push the strut rod down into the strut and bottom it out inside the strut, this is the measurement
Accord rear strut 20 5/8"
Civic rear strut 15 5/8"
So the when civic's rear strut at full extended it has only has 1 inch of travel left, before it can't extend anymore, it's way to short.
So then, what's the point of all this. Nice struts at a decent price for the front. The KYB AGX's could be used with all the lowering spings and cost's $85 per vs $106 for the koni's we use now. The Koni sports could be used for the stiffer coilvers, like drop zone's or by anyone just wanting to step up the best strut possible. Remember, it's still a big if at this point.
